I can totally relate to Guy. I don't like my sibling, but I love her. Our Mom wants us to get along better, but that's not possible. My sister has lied on me, stolen from me, and had talked negatively to others. So, I just stick to my family in my household. Sometimes you can't get over the hurt especially when its family.

As a younger sister, I think that it boils down to respect. I think that the older sibling(s) should respect that the fact that the younger sibling(s) will grow up someday and there must be a shift in their roles, just as parent/child. And the younger sibling(s) should respect that the older(s) generally take on the role of "protector" with or without being asked or forced. It's a balancing act that some siblings master better than others, if at all.

@@SammeeDee25 I definitely agree with everything you said except the oldest not being forced or asked to be like a second parent. Unfortunately 90% of the time that is just simply not true. One of the main things that upset me with my sister is her not understanding just how much I did. Until you are forced to cook, clean up after, give money too and more for a person you didn’t birth as a younger sibling you wouldn’t understand. Just like he said his brother let him stay there rent free so he can do what he loved. That is a parent child like sentiment cause usually only a parent would offer something like that. As me and my sister grew older I knew and it was hard to see her as an adult but I did so I definitely get what you’re saying Whenever your mom said “take your sister”, as oldest we were not able to have our own identity. Whenever your mom says “ that’s your sister you should have stopped it” we are being forced to protect someone or face consequences.

Guy is right younger sibling sometimes are looked down on by their older siblings. Early on we're taught to be a parent and look out for our younger siblings in the black community. The weight is always put on the older siblings while the younger siblings don't have to deal with the brunt of everything. So once everyone becomes an adult there's this weird friction where you now have to look at your younger sibling as an adult/equal and respect them as such. Add fame, money and various entertainment opportunities in the mix I can see how there is friction in their relationship. Hopefully they are able to resolve their issues.

Really sad. A lot of that stems from family dynamics and how they were raised. Parents have to push supporting each other and family ties over everything. We also learn from our parent’s dynamics and relationships with their siblings. My Mom’s mother died when she was 5, my grandfather told his kids always stuck together and they are in their 80s and still look out for each other.

I can totally relate to what Guy Torrey is saying. I have an older brother who I just don't deal with anymore! Aside from being a total Narcissus, all of my life he has done nothing but treated me with disrespect, undermined me at every opportunity, and did anything else he could to try to humiliate me. Furthermore, he is just not a nice person in general. He can put on a good front with people, but it's just that....a front. So I can relate when Guy Torrey says that he Loves Joe, but does not Like him. I don't like my brother, and I'm not even sure if I have that much love for him!! Sometimes in life it is just like that, and that's just the way it is. I have accepted that fact and have come to terms with the fact that that I am just DONE!! I wish him no ill will, he just needs to live his life, and I'm going to live mine. Some brothers are close, and some are just not!
