Right!? I really wanted to have a boy so I could raise a kind man like Asher. I’m beyond grateful that I could have my daughter and wouldn’t trade her for anything, but sometimes I feel sad my body wouldn’t let me have another bc I’d love to raise a empathetic and sweet boy. Unfortunately my body doesn’t like pregnancy hormones and it’s not safe for me or the baby to have another. But I found animals help a lot with my need to nurture. But looking at these two I bet they’d make excellent parents if they ever choose to have human babies. They’d raise some wonderful boys and girls. How lucky their kids would be to grow up with a huge pack of furry friends. But if they only have furry children those animal are the luckiest in the world.

My previous relationships didn’t understand my love for animals but my husband not only loves our cats (we can’t have dogs right now), he also walked dogs with me just for fun! We’ve fostered, we’ve foster-failed, we’ve fed strays. It’s beautiful when you share that :)

As a former foster home, I understand what Lee is saying about fostering being more important than rescuing. While both are necessary, if a foster keeps too many foster dogs, there is soon not enough time, space or funds (I had to supplement what the rescue provided) to do justice to them all. That leads to quitting fostering. In my case, the rescue folded, and I moved on to other animal welfare projects to help larger numbers. When I wanted to keep a foster because I didn't think I could bear to let them go, I reminded myself how many dogs could cycle through my home instead of keeping any one dog. I soon got over the broken heart as I walked through a shelter and found another dog that needed a foster home. Still I would have done the same thing Lee did. Any dog I fostered will never see the inside of another shelter if I can help it. They have a home for life with me no matter the circumstances. I've honored that commitment about half a dozen times and would not change it for anything. I loved them every one.

My heart was Breaking just at the Thought of them going back into those cages. When they were talking about nobody making a move to adopt them, it got even worse, knowing that Lee and Sydney already had Ten dogs. I was So relieved when they couldn't surrender them back into the shelter! Such beautiful people with a fantastic love for dogs. Thanks to Lee and the very beautiful Sydney for all that they do. Lee is an angel on earth. You are a special man. I love dogs. I don’t understand how someone can just abandon them, especially a 14-year old dog. I’m glad you adopted those two dogs. My older dog (Yorkie - now 12 years old) that I adopted three years ago has taken almost all that time to feel secure. He took about 30 months to allow and later enjoy a hug with arms enveloping him. It took as long for him to accept being walked by others with confidence he wasn't being taken away forever with a stranger. I assumed his issues were like many humans... 'alienation' (a common result of 'Separation / Individuation failure'). Human teens or adolescents typically manifest conduct disorders from that experience. Allowing him to test my commitment if he acts out is simply the duty of a parent. Embrace it. So I became an 'alpha dog'. After around 24 months I experimented by regularly nuzzling him with my nose like an old dog might do with puppies. I had to teach him he was allowed to bark by running toward a knock at the door and barking myself. I used a similar strategy to teach him about howling, and again for instinctive predation by harshly shaking a toy back and forth that was clenched in my teeth and growling as I did it. The tactic seems a success so far. His steps are lively and he is confident and inquisitive. He will let children touch him when a mere year ago he would stay at least five feet away from them and their reaching hands (Since he looks like a teddy bear he attracts alot of attention).It appears he needed parenting, and he needed someone that listens and understands 'dog'... his vocabulary is a non-random combination of distinct vocalizations in specific contexts. He will never understand very much human so understanding some 'dog' was the logical alternative. He's my first dog and has changed my life for the better in innumerable ways. Older dogs are great. They are sentient. When their basic needs for safety and security are met (see Maslow's hierarchy) they can become expressive free spirits with much to teach us about life.

Soooo, I have been watching these videos of Lee Asher for a while now AND they make me so very happy. This guy has a lightness about him, a sort of joy, I would say. His heart and soul are there for all to see .... he is a happy person cause he does what he loves to do,^_^. His lady Sydney....is a perfect partner and so they make the perfect team. This one had tears running down my face. I’ve rescued 2 fur babies. My oldest fur baby Jada passed away February 20, 2020 at the age of 12-13 and we had her for over 11 years. I’m so heartbroken! I also know my other fur baby is heartbroken without his sister. I want to save them all but I’m still broken and lost. I hope some day soon I will be ready to rescue again...

I had to watch this video set again after seeing Lee's memorial video for Ce Ce today. The wonderful Asher Pack/Family gave her the best ending to her life she could have hoped for. Took her to see the world and live the rest of her life being Loved by his side. I am humbled by the work they are doing and all the Love they give caring for those little souls who were left behind - not forgotten. I tried tears of sadness, then tears of joy. I am so happy for them. I adopted a 14 yrs old min last Sept. She was a stray, nos she's a velcro. A real sweetheart.
