Tania visited a local food shop in Georgetown Guyana and had the best breakfast and street food in Guyana. Love and laughter with the locals.

Hiya Tania, happy that you took a trip to Guyana, and showcasing Jamaica at the same time...but I wanted to let you know that we do plant Aubergine ( Egg plant) , squash, and even the red cabbage...also parsley...if you go downtown Market you will find a lot of things there that you wouldn't fine most places.....we also cook the thing from the cerasee ..... Now you are back home check out the variety of things that we havebin Jamaica....because people travel and take back things....one love! Blessings for the New Year...

Good morning, you are such a good sport. I love to hear you speak. I have went to school and worked with lots of Jamacian citizens and I have lived among some. It's a very similar culture ( Caribbean/ West Indian) although Guyana is considered a part of South America, we have most of the Caribbean/ west indian customs. I understand if you are hesitant to try some foods that you aren't familiar with. I can see you enjoyed the breadfruit because it's something you are familiar with. Jamacian like Guyanaese are very particular with who cleaned, prepared and cooked their foods and I can see that in you. I give you lots of credits like other KZbinrs to be pretty open minded on traveling and trying foods that you guys aren't accustomed to. Regarding the egg ball, I heard that your guide said its no spices but there are things like green seasoning and pepper salt and other ingredients added to the boiled cassava before they stuff the egg in the middle. Also what I grew up knowing Coco tea as is actually coco seeds that is dried roasted and then grind/ blend and roll like a little stick or like a little round ball and added cinnamon and stuff like that. We call Milo , Milo. Not coco but again depending on the area your guide is from they may have been calling Milo coco. Continue to enjoy beautiful Guyana and the hospitality of its citizens. 🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾👌👌👌🙏👍🏽👍🏽💯❤❤❤🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾💯

The breadfruit and plantain cooked together and fried 😋 😍 must be very nice 🥰. Auntie Sattie seems to serves the food heavy😄...meaning she gives alot of food in the plates. So the customers get their money's worth.

Jamaicans say boom when we agree with something someone is saying, or emphasizing a point from another point when we are talking (like using bullet points while writing). Also, we Jamaicans say "Boom drive or Beg a drive" (hitchhike), while Americans say (Bum a ride or Hitch a ride)

Please say split peas when referring to the ingredient as in the dhall puri. Jamacians will more understand split peas. Dhal is a dish which they don't know much about cause it's not popular. They know split peas or yellow peas. Thank you Backyard Cafe for that interesting tour.
