That being said the 10min laptime was only timing from the bridge at the straight’s end to the gantry at the straight’s start, so the time would have perhaps 30sec+ added on if they timed a full lap which includes that run down the final straight. Still tho under 11minutes of a full lap in a stock (albeit weight reduced and drafting assisted) transit lol

I would like to see 2 things combined from Top Gear and let lose on the 'Ring: Sabine Schmidt and the Transit they used with a Jag 220 engine mounted in the middle. Perhaps Guy should also have another attempt but with brakes balanced and turbo oil lines fixed first. I feel sure he could squeeze a decent improvement on his time too.

@@mysticalmisfit33 I tried and only said it twice before messing up lol and fast is fun unless it's the carpet making you go fast lol that's what happened to me on a hilly road and thank God that utility pole was there otherwise I would have drowned in the lake behind that pole lol (that was the only thing around there as well so really lucky lol) hit the pole I think around 60-70 mph cause the speed limit is 55 on the road (back roads of Wisconsin, full of hills and deer lol) but yeah it's fun when you want it and not fun when you dont want it lol really lucky cause my last words would have been ahh shit when I looked up and saw that pole lol

I remember my mates dad had an old tranny when I was a kid, he used to take it to track days and everything, always working on it. Years later when I knew a bit more about engines I asked about it and he'd gone and put an Austin Martin DB9 engine in it, he bought the car as a write off and salvaged the engine. I remember it sounding too notch 👌, and it went like shit off a stick too

I've hit 145mph in my Transit build. About to get the twin turbos upgraded to Garrett Powermax. Would not be difficult here in the US to have a built long block and bigger turbos on the 3.5 Ecoboost and give Guy's US records a run.

Funny thing ...Sabine Schmitz did a 10:08 lap in a STOCK Transit with street tires and a factory 136hp engine. Guy only beat her time by a measly 35 secs with his highly modified version! LOL Also noteworthy : She did her lap in normal track day traffic as well.

Van: "a medium-sized motor vehicle, typically without side windows in the rear part, for transporting goods". I could be wrong... but even tough Guy Martin is a top guy, his "van" doesn't seem to be a van. You can't transport a lot of good when you have a roll cage and a massive engine where those goods should be.

From what I've seen in videos, people that know the track seem to be able to carry times better than people that have more powerful or expensive cars. There is a lot of advantage in knowing where to brake or carry through in the corners. So this wouldn't surprise me too much.
