Excellent work Guy, I hadn't realised that you could adjust the play on the domino machine, very handy for getting the tops perfectly flush I would imagine

Looking great Guy! I think I saw some of the bent lamination in the background of one shot. Love how the legs turned out. Glad you're back.

+Mike Kapotsy Hey Mike! And you are correct in that the bent laminations are done already. How they appeared in this video is some kind of video voodoo magic.. HaHa.

+GuysWoodshop Must have been shop gremlins... those nasty little buggers! You better set out some traps. I failed to notice that one or two had infested my shop and ruined a piece I was working on. I think they shortened my tape measure by 3/16". I was fortunate that I was working on a plywood prototype of a project. I set traps but I think the traps scarred them away -- at least for now. ;)
@GuysShop9 жыл бұрын
+KSFWG I haven't seen any gremlins around here since the great Gremlin Outbreak in the winter of 02, so I don't think that's the problem.

Okay.... just checking.... those little buggers can be quite stealthy... ;)

Good episode Guy. You created some nice interest with the leg/apron joinery. You gotta love the Domino. Hey, a quick tip for dry assembly. As you noted, the dominos can be really tough to pull out when doing test fits. What you do is create some 'test assembly dominos' by cutting a kerf (bandsaw thickness works great) down half the length of the domino, about a quarter or third the domino width from the side. Cut another kerf on the other end, but on the opposite side. Now the domino has some give (kind of like a featherboard) and becomes easy to push in and pull out, yet rigid enough to be strong when assembled. Just create a handful for each domino size you have and use them when dry fitting your various projects. I hope my explanation wasn't too confusing.

+Marty Backe Hey Marty! That's a great tip. I have a bag of dominos of different sizes that I sanded down, but your way sounds much easier.

Guy, Love this build! I've just began to do my version I of your table. Your videos have been a a great help and inspiration to say the least. Any chance you would be willing to reply with the outside dimensions i.e. Length and width of your apron on this table?

Hey Guy, looking good, Ii'm enjoying this build. I'm wondering how you like the incra table saw fence. Anything about it you DON't like? I'm toying with the idea of changing. my fence.
@GuysShop9 жыл бұрын
+billfromelma Thanks Bill. There is very little not to like. As with any other fence, it still requires a few tweaks as you use it. Installation is a bit of a bear, but if you take your time, it will come out nice. I highly recommend it, as it has been a great addition to my shop.

Be meaning to ask, what is the piece of wood with the two red knobs on top of the fence?

That is just a make shift "handle" to grab the fence and slide it.

Why did you choose veneer over solid wood?
@GuysShop4 жыл бұрын
More stable thana solid top that big. No chance of the seams coming outof flat or alignment.
@jasonkeller57324 жыл бұрын
@@GuysShop If the goal was to use solid wood, would the butterfly be impossible? Would extensions have to be added at the ends of the table? Maybe my misconception when I read that furniture is veneered solids I think that its subpar.
