(GW2) FRACTAL THIEF - GUIDE FOR NEW PLAYERS

If you decide to be a thief in fractals at least try to be useful.
This video explains what you have to do to help your group succeed and make fractals faster by having a thief.
Thief is not a meta class for good groups in fractals (and will never be) but is fun to play in T4 and can offer much to the group.
This video is for the NEW PLAYERS who wish to be helpful in groups with the thief class, and this is the minimum they need to do for that.
Endgame groups don't accept thieves because of the DPS that has no burst phase and fractal bosses in CMs are burst-based where weaver/soulbeast/dragonhunter/reaper/holosmith are superior.

At first: Thank you youtube for THIS recommend! I'm new to guildwars as a wow veteran and thief is my first profession on max level. i dont want to play pvp but there are just a few video guides on how to play the thief in pve! Can you please tell me how you skip sertain animations (for example the "chain trigger" to disable the traps? Thank you really much! :)

Like i explain in the video, thief excels for T4 but he is terrible for CMs. Since i make power groups for CM runs 20k+ KP i dont prefer thieves for the CMs.

* Yes they work and are awesome for T4 runs. * As for Fractal CMs you preferably check some of dT or SC builds that sometimes work there, cause they optimise the DPS over utility - stats are not different just traits.

I started GW2 2 months back. I play fractal solely for the most part beside of getting mounts and learn about crafting. I already dip into fractal CM as warrior banner slave and currently building a condi soul beast for fractal cm 100. my point is I only know about fractal, and beside of skipping fractal, is there anything else thief is good for pve/open world wise? I like thief but it seems to be rather underwhelm and everyone seems to talk me down about how thief is a class under every other class. Also when you said build for pistol, does it mean thats the build to skip and work around when not in boss room?

About pistol pistol: 1) Pistols are the best solo weapon for thief. You can solo everything in game with pistol pistol. 2) Is not recommended for groups with buffs. 3) Is supporting by giving perma might/fury/speed to the group and "steal" removes the boons from boss and gives them to the group (example when has no pain no gain).

@@Kaozelle may I ask what do you mean by warrior is the best choice at gw2 ? and yes I can see myself playing thief in open world outside of fractal now ^^ Warrior for fractal up to CM 98 99 / condi soul beast for CM 100 and thief for open world!

Warrior is a class needed 100% for fractals/raid groups, can also cover a DPS role if not banners, can do all mechanics easily everywhere, has both condi and power build that are awesome, is too good for wvw/pvp as support. So in general making war opens you gates everyhwere.

Check last part of the video where i play pistols to show, you can figure alone how much the mobility helps you to solo things while dodging (long dodge x3) and not getting DMG from anything cause of the extra vitality and the 30% damage reduction. Deadeye has more DMG but the pistol/pistol is not a DPS weapon for thief, is a SOLO weapon to carry. I will make a video for that, good idea.

Is actually very easy if you don't use the full meta build and you do some small changes to get more surviving, but the DPS is mediocre even with a full meta build is true.

I play thief in fractals CM's everyday. Sometimes i get that "kind" comment "wow, a thief? is it even viable here?", but they usually calm down when I oudps them in skorvald. Thieves can burst, its just a matter of learning to precast. And although its burst cant compete with Soulbeast, Weaver and Firebrands (fkin op sht) when played amazingly, it can compete with most regular players.

When we talk for CMs we talk for "quality" CMs where thief has no place. If you just wish to be useful in a group you don't do that because you want to be useful. When group is GOOD, in one burst the boss will change phase (2-3 seconds). IF A DPS CLASS MAKES SO LOW DPS, THE BURST WILL BE LOWER AND THE TOTAL RESULT OF THE PHASE WILL SEEM SLOWER TOO. And only reason you seem to outdps any other role is because you DELAY them the phase so you have more time. That means you actually slow down the DPS of the others. Simple math: (1) Low burst => bigger phase => burst is similar with overtime damage => thief seems to make OK damage (2) Big burst => fast phase => overtime damage is ignored => thief has no place To achieve the 2-3 seconds phase you need the burst that Weaver/DH/Soulbeast/Reaper (and Holo maybe) can do. So what i try to say, you seem doing good DPS by destroying the DPS of other players that try to improve. Show respect to yourself, I don't say for me or for anyone else, I talk totally for YOURSELF and learn a class that can increase the group performance instead of slowing down the process.

@@willwill6278 by the time this video was made, condi DE was one of the biggest pumpers dps wise, the thing was it was not easy to pull off. Also, the fact that some narrow-minded people with mentalities such as "thief has no place in CMs" weren't willing to let them join their groups, made them even more rare. Some of these people even claimed that Reaper burst was higher, imagine that :D
