GW2 WvW - Hammer Dragonhunter New Meta - Complete Walkthrough

Hello guys, and welcome back to my channel.
New build, similar to an older build i posted, but it was for core guardian, which is not so relevant maybe.
Dragonhunter increases the melee potential of the new buffed hammer with its traps, making it a scary presence, thanks to both the sustained and the burst damage. Also , the class can really be tanky if you use your F3 accordingly.
For now , i'm trying Radiance traitline, but i'm kinda curious to see how Honor would work, with the big symbols which also last 2 seconds more.

Last year I made a Hamm/Bow DH build focusing on perma CC and chills (from the trait, appropriate rune and sigil like hydro) with mostly CC and area denial traps. It worked like a charm. Glad to see a similar playstyle rising up again.

Longbow only good skill is the 5, but the cooldown is just too high. Hammer and gs are waaaay better, at least in non-GvG

Interesting build. After fighting a group of enemies that spammed heavy hammer I can understand the logic behind it. I think the only weakness is that it relies too much in the support constantly doing their jobs.

What are your tweaks, if you want to use this build for roaming?

Probably swap procession of blades to smite conditions and sword of Justice to contemplation of purity, or the condi pressure would be unbearable. Make sure you have fury and resolution and to hit your hammer 2. Also probably scepter is not that good, maybe just go Longbow.

Curious why focus instead of torch? it seems the 5 is better AOE focused & the 4 is still huge STD

I choose focus mainly for the extra 3 blocks on the skill 5, which gives me more survivability. Torch is probably the best choice though.

how does this compare to just using greatsword instead? which was already the optimal choice for a melee focused dh, mighty blow is susceptible to blinds and aegis whereas greatsword isnt, you also lose the mobility something that is very potent in a more melee orientated build, you would also play offhand torch too to complement the melee preasure

Greatsword is super good, but its burst with the skill 2 spreads on several targets, every spin hits a bit someone, the next spin hits a bit someone else... Hammer instead hits for a big damage on 5 fixed targets, all at once, helping generating downed, especially in this super tanky meta. However, greatsword works great and is not worse than hammer, it's just different and is not an "all or nothing" (doesn't rely on a single spike skill )

Torch is better damage and also helps a bit with condi cleanses, but i like the 3 blocks on focus for survivability. If you are sure you won't die, go torch.

@@metallonegw2283 i'll have to give it a try tbh, I havent played hammer since core gw2 support guard was a thing but I find it frustrating enough getting blinded/blocked on berserkers GS and that has built in resistance. i need to complain at the vidis more
