GW2 WvW Shortbow Support Scrapper - Improved and back to the meta

Support scrapper has been receiving several buffs in the latest patches, while other supports only got nerfed, allowing this class to probably fit in the meta again, thanks to its multiple barriers, stability sources and immense condi cleanses and healing. This build has several traits alternative which is good to have for more diversity.

Thanks for the post! I just got weaponmaster so I wanted to try mace, but I guess i'll go straight to shortbow. It looks fun. I use Function a lot to help manage Downs, so it'll be tough. Maybe just treat it like a mantra of concentration. With the smaller circle just have to stay tighter on tag.

Just in case you're not aware, you wont be able to use shortbow until you get the Astral Ward Arsenal achievement that comes from doing Ep. 14 on the SOTO story. Had that issue yesterday when I was setting up this build.

@@JahazielArias Appreciate the reply.. I'm a fairly recently returned player to come back after many years so I'm a bit lost on everything after season 1. I'm trying to inch my way through Story (which I enjoy), but I mostly play WvW. That said, I fortunately had plenty of Jade Heroics and just went to the Heroics Notary in WvW and traded for all the Astral Ward items to unlock it (like I did for Weapon Master). I'd have rather done the story like you mentioned, but I was lucky to have a ton of currency from my previous time here and had this option available.

You mentioned going shield for blasts but SB has two as well on 2 and 5, so I go 3-2-4-5 then swap to kits by the time they are done the SB is all off cooldown

Hello Sir. Elixer Gun 5 doesn't cleanse per pulse. it only cleanses on the initial drop, so its only 5 (10 with antitoxin) condi cleanse. Don't waste your time casting it, it's the worst (lowest value) skill on the class. I made a document a while back about the highest condi cleanse contribution on this build that i dont think i saved anywhere (rip) But what i do remember is that the highest value condi cleanse skills (with AntiCorrosion Plating+Antitoxin) are Cleansing Field, and Purge Gyro (and Shredder gyro when you combo it with light field, like purge gyro) I didn't document a Shortbow, so you can consider it as possible skills that might be competitive with those 2. I dont even run E-gun on my build. I replace it with shredder. Fumigate is still pretty good (maybe as good as shredder now since purge gyro nerf) just less swapping, easier W keying, and therefor you can focus on healing (spaming Heal Kit 1) and leaving your cleanses to fields. So its just an option to consider, you'll get the same results.

Right, it's only on the first pulse. I used to run shredder before for the same reason you listed, but skill 3 is still very good

@@metallonegw2283 Indeed. something i should mention on the topic of fumigate : is that Fumigate might be effected by antitoxin in such a way where each packet the gun outputs is considered a unique condition cleanse (it also words it this way on the wiki) so rather than 5 condition cleanse becoming 6 (as the tooltip suggests)...it might be more like 1 becoming 2, times 5 (packets) for 10 condition cleanses per packet across 5 players hit by the cone (50 total on 5 pulses) rather than 30 total, so long as your always hitting unique sets of players while using the skill. Considering its cooldown, that puts fumigate up there with cleansing field, purge gyro and shredder gyro. I barely play the game anymore...you should test that out. Probably not the easiest test but maybe join a few zergs and see if pushing the fumigate button when you have antitoxin (no anticorrision, or any other skill) produces more than 30 condition cleanse, and just do it a number of times since conditions applied is a variable.

I think the healing is still too low to compete. Druid has it's heals build into the kit, where as scrapper needs to spam medkit. It's a bit like tempest. Sometimes you miss the ability to burst heal, which can lead to death of your subgroup. Some more buffs and scrapper will be great. They just need to apply a resistance source (as instant cast.)

Im not very sure druid is better now,scrapper has a lot of barriers to compensate the lower heals.

@@metallonegw2283 good point! I will give it some testing. i rly hope scrapper finds a spot in the meta cause its super fun to play.

@@paul6350 druid was much superior also thanks to alacrity, which was removed. Now they are both good imo
