Well every frame is hand animated (posed in 3D), so it’s really no different than any other shot they would animate. Who we should be thinking of are the 3D modelers who put a huge amount of time into each outfit to just be missed by blinking haha.

it regularly breaks my heart to hear how demanding the conditions were for those working on this film because of how incredible this film came to be. allegedly over 100 animators quit and i don't blame them. their work on this should not go unnoticed. edit: for those who stayed, they allegedly were working 7 days a week for 11 hours throughout an entire year. the writers + actors strike needs to account for animators as well because these working conditions and lack of appropriate accomodations/compensation for everyone involved needs to end.

someone had a good theory that the background color’s relationship with gwen’s colors are meant to show when she feels safe. she always blends in with her rom, but when she leaves it she contrasts with her environment because she no longer feels safe. there’s a lot more examples but i can’t name them off the top of my head.

The most jarring is the birthday clip. Everything about it is visually distinct and it completely breaks the flow of the montage. Gwen's in a different position, alone, and with her eyes open. While that kind of pose could easily come across as cool or impressive, the contrast between how peaceful Gwen looks for the rest of the montage and her pose in that one clip is almost painful.

This is mostly just because Gwen's universe functions off emotions. Strong people like a spider-person have enough influence that in there area, the general emotion, follows suit through them. They're the main character of that area. So Gwen's emotions always influence how the world around her looks and works. To Miles, his world is more comicy. It's bright, slow, and artistic. Their worlds mesh completely, forming a true painting and it's why their characters are perfect for each other.

I love the traffic cone shirt too! Especially since it also looks like it might have been a shirt with a piece of candy corn on the front, which would still be festive for the Halloween season, but also still conveys that she's too cool for a costume. But of course, when the bottom of the shirt is blocked, it would look like a traffic cone, and give the audience the subtle warning that you pointed out. (And what I mean is, that she could be wearing a shirt with a traffic cone on it, but it could also be a seasonal candy shirt, and I think that it's cool that it can be viewed both ways!)
