I met Gwen Stefani in 1996 when she broke out with "Tragic Kingdom". In fact I met her and the whole band over in Europe. They signed my album copy of Tragic Kingdom. She was pleasant. They didn’t blow up yet with “Don’t Speak”. So the place where I saw them Live, was not that full of people but Gwen and the Band gave their all. She did ask "if anyone knew who they were" I held up my album in the audience. Plus they were humble enough to listen to me and my girlfriend at the time. I was compelled to go and see them Live after seeing Gwen and the Band performing on David Letterman in March of that year 1996. I told them that. She left and impression. I was surprised to see how small she was. Sweet as an individual.I saw star potential on that David Letterman performance of “Just A Girl”. The rest we know is history when they released their evergreen song “Don’t Speak” that year as well. I did mention to them they should think about another releasing another single as well,but they didn’t go for it. That’s ok. I’m glad I had that moment. Because there was IPhone back then, I don’t have pics which captured that moment. I just have my cherished memories of that sacred moment between them and my new girlfriend at the time. No Doubt is definitely one of my favorite bands from that era in the mid 90s.Her auspicous solo debut didn't surprise me. I knew that she had the It Factor.

I saw No Doubt open for Bush in 1997 at The Palace in Auburn Hills, Michigan. So, the crazy thing is that I don't think No Doubt was even supposed to be there, it was supposed to be Veruca Salt. Something must have happened because I feel like it was just meant to happen, like I was destined to get to see Gwen and No Doubt live. Gwen had so much energy, she is the party!
