Shinmiri's point at 1:02:35 reminds me of Noxious's Igni vs Lifecoach at Gwent Challenger #1. A little bit different of a situation b/c Noxious was actually able to win the round, but it's still similar in that Noxious had an Igni that was too juicy to give up, but ultimately he would regret spending that Igni when he needed it more in R2/R3. That play sticks in my memory as it really changed the way I thought about the strategy of the game.

To the other guy in the comments: If you have a problem with Eskel not finding value based on matchups, then what about Heatwave? Or Geralt of Rivia when you're up against swarm decks? Or squirrel against a deck that doesn't care about its graveyard? They're called tech cards. That's their whole point.

TECH PLAYABILITY ISN'T COMPARABLE TO TECH BRICKS. Eskel bricking is much more WORSE than heatwave that would never, ever gonna get bricked...

Shhh. He has 1500 hours in the game. He knows what he's talking about.

@@iPlayDotaReligiously A bricked Eskel is 4 points. If you're up against swarm your heatwave may very well play for less if you draw it at the wrong time. Eskel is fine

@@AceofSpades916 Oh by the way, at 1:59:44 he literally mulled away Heatwave. I guess Heatwave is a bad card now that needs 10 buffs? Tech cards are all match-up and meta dependant
@iPlayDotaReligiouslyКүн бұрын
@@TheFilipFonky sure, now I bring it back to u to decide which one is higher, the chance of seeing Eskel PLAYS FOR 4 OR the chance of playing heatwave LESS THAN 4.

Obviously I played against some Shinmiri fellow’s today. Had a lot of fun with my rain list against all the different swarm lists. (Dwarves, Insectoids, NR Mewe, …. )

Thanks Shin! Do you ever play Mill? That would be a great video if you fancy it!! 😄

I play Mill like once in a blue moon. Not really a fun archetype for me, so you probably shouldn't hold your breath for a Mill video from me anytime soon xD

Mahakam forge leader is so bland and weak the way CDPR left it. If it had two charges of tempering or gave two armor instead of one, it would be good. Right now it doesn't even apply to spawned dwarves like rowdy dwarves.

i use the leader with whisperer of dol blathana. it's an aditional immediate spawn

I really don't understand the game design idea behind eskel. Like, okay, i understand that the idea is to make "kill a unit", which isn't just kill a unit, and has some condition. But this condition is determined before match and does not correlate to your or your opponent's plays. And i really dislike that. So every faction has it's special unit type, and sometimes they cross. For ng it is soldiers, agents and aristocrats, for NR it is soldiers, mages and siege engines, for ST it is dwarves, elves and bandits, for SY it is bands, for monsters it is all their monster types and for SK it is warriors and cultists. You don't want to put it in your typical midrang-y deck because there are usually a lot of unit types, and eskel would not work against your faction and some other matchups. He doesn't work in mirrors, and witchers, so no killing ivo, colgrim, gesras or arnagad.

You just summarised everyones problem with gwent. Theyve balanced it so badly, that you lose in the deck builder.

@BiggusDingus325 I really have similar problems with 2 cards - yrden and eskel, yrden is crap now (thanks god) and eskel is in some kind of limbo

Don't try to find any sense behind a card's design in Gwent. This game's design is completely broken and just a waste of time to play.
