Takin a full look back at our incredible May ‘23 with Milwaukee’s own, Frank Gatson Jr.! 😄
To closeout season 6, we were fortunate enough to host one of the most world-renowned choreographers & creative directors in the industry. A North Division High School alum; our guest delivered a dynamic discussion & interview on our theme for the month, “Taking the Stage.” Music Lab Coordinator B~Free & Mr. Gatson spoke about his upbringing, his career path from Milwaukee to LA, & how working with stars like MJ, En Vogue, Destiny’s Child, Beyonce & many more have informed his gift of artist development & direction. The takeaways were informative, engaging & inspirational for our audience members. & of course, the last half of Lab consisted of another amazing teen open mic, with eight student acts that shared a wide range of talents. Features included original music, rapping, singing, guitar playing & even dancing - all delivered through a diversly talented array of MKE youth 🧡
We’re extremely grateful to have had such an amazing school year of sessions, & to have connected so many wonderful individuals through music & the arts! We look forward to our summer endeavors & continued community building for season 7 & beyond. The Music Lab is a FREE monthly music and arts education program and talent accelerator for Greater Milwaukee area high school students! At the Music Lab, students have the opportunity to learn about the music and entertainment industries through featured guests. They are also given the opportunity to collaborate, perform, and build relationships with their peers.
