My 16yo son is doing his first “on stage” show since the pandemic started next week and the director wants as many of the kids as possible to have their makeup done before call time so dressing rooms aren’t crowded. This video is going to be soooo helpful for us!!!

So helpful, thank you! This video is the only one I'm using and it's been so helpful... First time I tried it, I asked my cast mate for feedback, and she just said, "Perfect!"

I always use stage makeup when I need to do a speech or going in any social events even parties. Nothing wrong with looking as perfect as possible. Flawless.

I feel like it’s also important to remember for stage makeup its normal for it to look a little strange close up. Its made to exaggerate your features and make sure its not washed out in the spotlight

So I just rewatched your video, and learned something new! I didn't know about lightly using the blush, then covered with the foundation, to minimize the blueing caused by a 5 o'clock shadow on a male. So cool.

lori grass Not all shades of creme blush will work for that but some do!

I know this was 6 years ago, but I was told to buy this kit for a show I'm doing, I'm a teen female and the diagrams don't really make sense to me... would it be too much to ask for a tutorial like this for a feminine face? if not that's ok! :)

Nicely done. Thank you for sharing. I have a questions.....How would you take pale pasty-white cast members to a dark middle eastern warm complexion for theater. What foundation colors, powders, etc would you suggest? Also how would you build the foundation without them having too dark of bronze skin? I could use some help. Thank you.
@lexieostler84356 жыл бұрын
Carolyn Bat Yah if you’re seeing any skin more than just your face, I suggest a self tanner/ spray tan. They are actually very natural looking these days, and not orange looking. It will make it easier so you don’t have to put makeup on you’re whole body. Then obviously get a darker foundation and a darker contour color. If you’re not seeing any skin just go for a darker warm (yellow) toned base You can keep the translucent powder and do a darker contour whether it be cream or powder
@carolynbatyah25176 жыл бұрын
@@lexieostler8435 thank you. You confirm what I have done. I appreciate your response.
@GwynethPricePanos6 жыл бұрын
Carolyn Bat Yah Sorry I didn’t see your question soon enough. I’m glad someone else was able to help. I agree. If you are going with a darker foundation make sure it’s a nice warm color. Also, sometimes adding a bronzer (with no shimmer) over their normal foundation color can look good too. It depends how dark you are trying to make them.

Isn’t this called blackface??? Why not just hire a Middle Eastern actor.......
@lorigrass15 жыл бұрын
Scary B - I believe that would be a better question for the casting director, and not the makeup artist. I was curious about this myself though. I would like to know what the project is. What the reason is that light skinned actors are playing darker skinned actors. Perhaps it is a play at a theatre smack dab in the middle of Minnesota, and only light skinned actors auditioned. Perhaps it's a play that makes a message that all people are the same, regardless of skin color, and their having their varied skin colored cast playing a character of a different skin color. Anyway, I hope it's for some such reason.

Do you have to change the contouring for different face shapes (i.e you have a bigger rounder face) or does it easily translate to different face shapes?
@GwynethPricePanos5 жыл бұрын
Excellent question. The easy answer is yes, contouring under your cheekbone is pretty universal but everything else should be customized to your face. If you have a small forehead for example, you wouldn’t want to darken it much because it will make it smaller.
@GwynethPricePanos5 жыл бұрын
I’ll be doing another video about contouring eventually. Keep on the look out and be sure to click the notification bell so you don’t miss it

@@GwynethPricePanos Thank you so much! I got thrown in the deep in end this year for theatre as they makeup helpers had to worry about doing the younger kids so I ended up doing my own to not give them as much work. Next year I am hoping to be a part of the production and it is just natural looking faces so I was wanting to find some good tutorials. Would anything else change for different shaped faces or would it be the contouring that would have to adjust? Can't wait for the next video!!!
@GwynethPricePanos5 жыл бұрын
There are many things to take into consideration for female faces especially but for men the differences could have to do with how much to emphasize the jawline of the performer doesn’t have a defined jaw naturally, how deep set the eyes are and how dark to make the brows.

@@GwynethPricePanos Thanks so much!!! I am auditioning for the role of Francis (One Man Two Guvnors) who is played by James Corden and was trying to look around for tutorials to keep that natural look while also keeping rounded complexion so it helped heaps. I ended up nearly turning myself that horrible yellow-green colour last year with foundation and made my brows too dark (nearly looked like cateprillars) 😬 so i definitely needed the help
