Do you have too? No. Is it a good idea to change the grease in the gearbox? Probably, if you want to improve the life of the gear train.. The grease in the gearbox does not age well, that being said, if you ran it for a while and THEN changed the grease in there it would likely be fine.

Just getting in to air guns, and just bought a CS2. Bought it because of your videos on repair. Hopefully i will never have to repair it, but one question I have is, should I break it down when i get it, and replace the grease where the motor joins the toothed ring (one of your videos showed a failure on a CS2 that was sent in to you for an autopsy) Looks like that is a weak point in these compressors. Do you know if China has changed that lube? Mine is new from Amazon. I would like to catch problems before they develop. I am so happy I found your website.

My gx3 is slow to fill once it hits 3.5k .. also once the pump stops is it supposed to slowly lose air? Edit caught the end of the video when you mentioned building pressure and leaks. Used leak spray to see bubbles around the safety valve on my GX3. Removed it and theres a metal lined o-ring (dowty ring i thick its called ) anyways cleaned it up, a little grease and put back together. Still leaked. I then took a reg o-ring about the same size and put it down in the hole first. That worked, back to filling quicker and holding pressure.. ty

@@TargetForge a "guesstimate" from a knowledgeable person is worth more than a question mark with nothing added. I've been watching a number of videos on the GX CS3 (similar I think to the GX CS2) and at one time they advocated using oil added to the crank area and after ca 1st 10 hrs of use or so then annually or every 100 hrs. Apparently they no longer use oil (not sure why) so the newer CS3 models may not have user serviceable areas anyway. I'll look on your channel to see if you have anything on the CS3 though!

@@TargetForge thanks for your suggestions. I have done a bit of research on pumps that are "oil free" and I'm finding that contrary to "conventional thinking" today's modern oilless pumps can and do perform well for extended periods of time before needing any kind of maintenance. As an ex., these oilless pumps can be used for freeze drying ops (where the pump (vacuum) is operating 24-48 hrs STRAIGHT and doing this maybe many times per week for YEARS) and people are having few if any problems. I think much of the success of these type pumps has to do with the original design -- if it is set up for oilless operation, that's not the same thing as an oil type pump operating without oil! I suppose (since you enjoy experimenting, kind of like the Project Farm guy) you could always try running one of the CS2 type pumps to failure timing how long it takes. There are interval timers (I use one for other things, bought off Amazon) that could let the pump run for 10-15 mins, then shut it off 10-20 mins, and repeat until failure.

Hi bill, i am having trouble after lubricating my gx-cs2 compressor. I carefully watched this video and after that I only did the cleaning & lubricating on its cylinder. But when i start my compressor back this compressor is generating a pressure not more than 20 psi. I don't understand why this is happening. Please help me to solve this problem. Thanks in advance (My compressor was working just fine before this lubrication attempt)
@TargetForge
@TargetForge Жыл бұрын
It probably safer to say that you have a problem after reassembly as the act of lubrication is unlikely to cause a problem unless you applied way to much. I would guess that something went back together differently than it came apart. I have no idea if you touched the check valves but put back incorrectly, they can cause an issue for sure. A missing o ring, a loose fitting can cause an air leak preventing normal operation. Without actually seeing the machine I'm afraid I don't have much to go on, but any of the things I mentioned will cause issues like you are describing. Good luck! I do offer a repair program but it's not inexpensive..

Nice video! I've often just cut ball-ends off hex/Allen keys with an angle grinder - and leaving the burr(s) that remain because of it. Does quite a nice n snug fit in the bolt/screw head.. And yes, duh, use the key for tightening on some bolt head before usingbitbwith in a compressor. The fine burr remains are not mentioned to go within fine machinery and their lubes. I do not own a compressor like this - but whenever gonna buy a compressor, then I'd search for one of these GXs..

Any idea when the site will be back? Also will you have those allens on there? I have a gx L3 and the other day it stopped working while filling. Got to 2k and it stopped. Thought maybe batteries got low so charged them up. Starting it back up it runs for about 10 sec and shuts off. So thinking its time for a full rebuild so need to find parts for everything. I also wanted to set it up to be able to fill multiple tanks so lmk if this would work. I was going to attach a gauge to the hose, then a shut off valve after the gauge, then a pressure relief valve and then filter. My thinking is i could shut off the air supply to the tank then purge and take the tank off, hook another up then just close the relief and turn the shut off and theoretically it should charge the line back up and start filling again.
@TargetForge
@TargetForge 2 жыл бұрын
Forgive my ignorance, what are Allens? Also I don't follow your design idea. Do you just want to trap air in the filter and hose and not vent each time? Should work fine just be sure everything is rated 5K PSI or better. Just keep in mind these units should only be run for 20 min at a time and allowed to cool.

That is a very good question Michael. Without a bunch of data I'm tempted to say a 10hr quick service interval makes sense and complete tear down and relube at 30 hrs? To be honest these numbers would normally be rooted in actual life cycle testing, which I'm pretty sure does not exist. I'm hoping that as more users put hour meters on their units and reflect data back to me, we can make a more informed recommendation. For now? the quick lube every 10, and the full service at 30 might work pretty well.

Hi TARGET just found this out doing the mini grease service on my friends CS 2 his one came with the white grease. When we were greasing the Wrist pin there is a small hole in the groove, and if you inject the M3 hole with grease it fills the groove which i think is to lubricate the connecting rod.
