So the new Sony XB23 is a great sounding portable bluetooth speaker. But if you’re looking for a small speaker for the summer then the JBL Flip 5 and UE Wonderboom 2 are two great options as well. But all three of these speakers are pretty different from one another so depending on your needs one might be better than the other for you.

Grabbed the wonderboom 2 for when I go riding on my Onewheel and it’s freaking awesome. Super durable, lightweight to clip on my pants or backpack, great battery, and plenty loud and great 360 degree audio. That outdoor mode is a killer feature and it’s loud enough for most situations, highly recommend.

To sum some of the stuff up: Do you want the best specs on paper, like BT5.0?, and AAC, or are you a fan of Sony? Get the XB-23. Do you want a durable, reliable, and fool-proof speaker, or are you a non-techy person? Get the wonderboom. Do you want the best sound, or love the JBL sound signature, or own any other partyboost-compatiable speakers? Get the flip 5. Watch out for the battery life if you get the Sony. Know that you are not getting the best and newest tech on the UE. Watch out for the passive radiators on the Flip 5. Hope this helps.

Well actually the battery life on the sony xb23 is actually good and it is the loudest speaker out of the bunch and and btw the xb23 is actually really durable actually the most durable speaker in its class with 5 feet drop rating waterproof, dustproof, rustproof and it is basically the most durable speaker and the xb23 sounds better then the flip 5 the flip 5 lacks so much mids and highs and instrument seperations compared to the xb23 and the ue wonderboom sounds better then the flip 5 too

Incredible sound quality that crushes its direct competition, it gets louder than the rivals and it has some specs that are handy (like more advanced codec support). If you only got to spend $100 on a Bluetooth speaker, then buy the Sony SRS-XB23, the king of the lower midrange BT speakers.

Feel like the Wonderboom is cooler with more intuitive design, it's more durable and it looks better and the volume buttons are so conveient but as is the hook to hang it and the ability to pause and skip a song easily but. I hear a lot of both these speakers at worker and the JBL sounds better to me. It seems to project it's volume more and better AND on top of that it seems to absolutly destroy the Wonderboom in terms of bass and low end. When you turn on the 'tree' button on the UE wonderboom 2 all sound quality literally goes out the window. I've been flogging my Wonderboom 8 hours a day 6 days a week for well over a year.

Great video in every imaginable way! :) Now let me rant for a bit. I bought an xb-12 recently because workdays fly by much better with some tunes in the background. It cost half as much as these but it's not loud enough and, quite frankly, it's fucking outrageous that you only get 2 to 4 hours of music with one charge. The box proudly says 16 hours but fails to mention that this is only true with the volume turned halfway up. I've never met a single person in my life who listened to a BT speaker that way. It's either off or at max volume. All in all, I believe that these things still have a long way to go before their value comes reasonably close to their price.

@Music Releases That's very kind of you! It's pretty rare these days to take other people into consideration. At home I use my speaker at a reasonable volume level, too. But at work there are plenty of loud noises. I'm gonna grab a JBL Go 3 in a few days. We'll see how that holds up. About returning it, I already returned an LG speaker to get the Sony one, so I figured this is as loud as a speaker of such size can get.

I still think the xb32 is Sony's best sounding speaker of the last generation..it has a better mids and highs eq adjusted without losing bass...i tryed the xb33 twice and returned it twice..the xb32 sounded better, clearer and i thought the xb33 sounded muffled playing same songs on both speakers..i dont think the eq on the xb33 made as much of a difference as it does on the xb32...imo..

And the Sony srs xb32 has more deeper base compared to the srs xb33. So if u want a good speaker for about 80/120 choose the Sony srs xb32!

In my opinion the Flip 5 is the best. Even though it is not stereo as the Flip 4, you can’t really tell the difference in such a small speaker. Its larger driver also gets a bit of a deeper bass, which I love.

I’ve just tried both the JBL Flip 5 and Wonderboom 2 and find the JBL to be FAR superior. In fact to me they don’t even belong in the same category. The bass on the Wonderboom 2 left me “WONDERring” where it had gone. I don’t consider myself an audiophile but I do have a good ear and can definitely appreciate good sound. Do yourself a favour and don’t even bother with the Wonderboom 2.

i like all 3 of them, they look good and sound good. I suppose it comes to personal choice. Sony is a trusted name and brand and has quality build, JBL is by Harmon and they are audio specialists, superb sound, Wonderboom is made by Logitech who have been around for long time and another trusted name currently doing a great job with sound speakers.

yea the wonderboom sounded extremely loud for its size, but it soundsed like crap, and Im listening through flat studio monitors. the JBL sounded much more balanced. sony sounded ok, but the battery life and size are kinda a killer considering its about the same volume at double the size. even the bass sounded more clear on the jbl's, Sony makes incredible headphones.. second to none in the ANC world, but mabye not in the small bluetooth speaker world.
