It depends, 99% of cases Charge 5 is better. Remember that Charge 5 is 2021 and Sony is 2024 model.

I had a flip 4 and loved everything about it except the bass, or lack thereof. I wanted a charge 4 thinking same clarity with better bass but it sounded muddy to me, no sparkle. Heard the charge 5, flip 6, and ult1 at best buy today and all 3 sound better than what came before but the ult1 really impressed me. I agree Sony needs an ult 3 or whatever to properly compete with the charge 5, surprised its not out yet tbh.

Can’t blame JBL, those speakers have been out for a while now, at this point and time it’s a miracle that Sony finally gave REAL love to their speakers and not only "warm" sound experience but real and bold sound Pairing hopefully is better than before as well

Considering the passive radiators on the sides help the lows dramatically I would say the woofer itself handles the mid range very well and only seems to get better quality once the speaker is broken in

@joshking4679 simply use it frequently but don't blast it all the time of course still treat it with care but but since Jbl speakers are such high quality and the woofers are stiff and have not been flexed much at all aside from factory testing but over time you'll notice the sound quality become more warm and full overall it's very cool

If I'm being honest the recording had a bit to do with what I heard and possibly how the platform the music was played off of because I listened to the sound test through my JBL charge 5 and it sounds way better and balanced when you switched to the sony. Yes even through my charge 5 I can hear how well the Sony performed but there's no way the JBL,s sounded that bad. I've played many genres of music though my charge 5 and they don't sound distorted like that. But that's my experience. I'm not to raise any arguments or anything I'm just trying to figure out what happened. I have a Sony srs-x55 that I still enjoy to this day from time to time so yeah

@@michelegarrigan5425 I would disagree. The SRS-x55 is a 30w speaker and the charge 5 is a 40w. And I have both. My charge 5 is definitely better in sound quality. It could be possible you don't have it updated or haven't tried the eq on the JBL app. Or It can be how have the source the music Is coming from. I'm just trying to help because to me the JBL sounds better, but don't get me wrong the Sony sounds good

Please someone help me i need to decide which speaker i want and i dont know if the jbl flip six sounds better or sony ult field 1 because in this video to me sony performs better but in other videos the jbl sound louder and a little bit more clear. Now is 2024 end and which speaker should i buy ( i want a louder one ) and also you should do the video where you compare them ( sony and jbl ) with the same setting, not ult mode but you should set the same Highs mids and bass on both ( on app ) and then see which one sound louder.

I purchased one recently. I'm not happy with the bluetooth connection. I must have my phone directly along side the JBL Charge 5 for the sound to play crisp. 4ft-6ft away and the connection breaks, and the music becomes choppy. I doubt, I could host a backyard BBQ. Playing music while the my phone is in my pocket will be a problem as I'm grilling. I'm thinking of returning this speaker. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

JBL can't handle low bass. if you listen to a song with low bass, JBL charge 5 will like ............. nothing. sony on the other hand can handle 20hz-20khz, so even low bass is not a problem.

For me JBL is garbage becuase it doesn't sound surround like Bose. I have the Bose Portable Smart Speaker and my cousin has the Xtreme 3 and the Bose is way better. The Bose sounds like your in a movie theater while JBL sounds like a regular speaker. We played the same music and our family members said the Bose sounds better.

The Sony doesnt compare to the JBL Charge5 AT ALL. The JBL Charge5 lasts triple as long as the Sony. You can charge your other devices from it. Regarding a carrying handle, i bought a $10 silicone case with a handle that was made to perfectly hold it safe and sound. And the audio quality people are tripping about? Buy a more premium speaker MADE for that audio format lmao. But people dont have common sense... All I can say is im so stoked for the Charge 6!

Also most people play audio with Dolby Atmos or some upgraded pre-eq system. JBL is less adjustable, but honestly Sonys eq system is always focused on one of the three sound levels. JBL covers the highs mids and lows evenly. You and most reviewers play it in normal quality, I always use Dolby Atmos or something similar.
