The title made me expect to see Blaziken coming out of nowhere to kick Ash Ketchum's ass for at least 40 minutes. Also I do agree, the whole Fortree City area and the nearby routes are very relaxing, used to be my favorite routes back when I first played Pokémon Sapphire. Just love the whole vibe there with the rain and the occasional thunder.

The “Tombstoner, brother” joke is honestly one of my favorite things about your vids and something I’d love to see in Emerald too. I agree that Brawly makes the most sense by a good margin, but that it’s a little hard to show anything cause it’s in the dark? You’ve beaten this game numerous times now though and like Rock Tunnel in Gen 1, I fully think you could just remove the darkness in his gym (if possible) since we all know you can do it in the dark, and it just looks better for the viewer and helps continue the legacy of “brother”.

It sounds easy on paper but DMA and all that stuff in the creation of an Emerald run is a nightmare. One of the reasons it took me so long to get it online was that even the QoL changes like spinners and guaranteed catch rate for HM users changed callback values and made me have to hex value hunt to find callbacks to make the Overlay still work. It's tedious and I never want to redo it lol.

Happy to see my favorite Pokemon overall do so well on its solo run. Blaziken just has so much in its arsenal both in its debut generation and later on (Speed Boost being the best addition to it). And it does well as a physical, special, or mixed attacker. It's my pick for these reasons and more, that I always use one whenever I'm able to obtain it in a game.

Blaziken with bulk up is showing how fighting types and physical types in general have a ton of advantage by simply having an early access to bulk up. But I do think that a lot of clam mind users have a lot to say about that. Because of all of the intimidate users that can slow down a physical attacker,and make them set up more, which causes some time losses. 😊 I think that either Norman or Waston should inherit the brother nickname . Because it sounds funny and they can be tricky in most case. Or maybe Shelly could take it as well.😂 I really like the thumbnil, because the blaze chicken seems like it wants to kick through the run,as fast as it can,and it's results were really surprising.😊

Oh, man. Shelly would be alright! I do wonder about Calm Mind since it appears so late but Bulk Up is just so early. I think Blaziken is the tip of the iceberg with physical types.

@GymLeaderMatt1987 From what I know clam mind is really broken, even if you can use it only for the end game for most Pokémon. But, definitely Pokémon like Alakazam that can obtain it through level up, will be really op.🤔 Shelly could work for the punchline,but I wonder how you'll adjust the footage for that 🤔? Bulk up definitely bulks up fighting types runs,and some physical attackers.

Happy to see the Blaziken rep :D. Yeah it can have a bit of a rough time with Tate and Liza but oh my does it feel good to just stomp the E4 like they're nothing. Part of me wonders what would happen if you backported it's speed boost hidden ability and if that would let you push Blaziken even further.

If only the ROMs were easier to hack. I made a plethora of QoL changes but it caused me to have to look through hex values to find a lot of data that changed through those changes. I'm scared to add Pokemon or new moves because it messes with everything. DMA sucks lol.

As for the team battle you could hack in electrodes to explosion that one part to skip it then swap back to the solo mon.

The only way to really hack would be to use PKHex and using it that late in the run just ruins the momentum. I'm fine with Tropius atm though!

pre watch: Bulk up, then double kick / 2 filler coverage gose Burrrr. KFC starter is wonderful for casual speed runs when you were clearing games for 1 per game mons to collect and trade barter later. double kick somewhat competitive vs Brick break due to the many Fodder trainers to save PP and the plentiful normal, dark, steel and rock mons. brick break dose have some debate use in later game for faster possible time n text if chicken is powerful enough. keeping a fire stab to cut through weak special defense mons. the last move was harder to pick for me. Rock tomb was nice early game but low accuracy makes dig or earthquake better long term picks later on.

That's a whole other discussion. Routing for zero resets is just a slower process and is a different measure. You'll never get fast times going for 100% consistency!

You are right! Honestly the DMA and callback values to get everything working is weird and I don't know what could have caused it. I checked a few gym leaders and it was fine and then glacia/drake/wallace had boosted experience. I'm don't think it made a huge difference but the ROM with the mapper acts very strange at times and I still need to use PK Hex. I can't remember if I used it after Juan to make Shoal Cave have low tide or not but that might have been it? Might have fat fingered a checkbox or something but we'll likely never know but, for example, I've reset at Wallace and my sprite turned into Archie's sprite and the game crashed after that lol.

Honestly, if you look at the Tropius in the Tate&Liza battle as if it was a crappy NPC partner, I don't think there are any issues with it. A little disappointing that you have to do this on a gym leader, but it's not really an issue.

I felt like it had enough speed in almost every point in the game but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt. The thing is that changing the base ROM has consequences with DMA and callback values and you basically have to hex value hunt to get things working in the overlay.
