1st off, Zamo is so gorgeous--so classically beautiful. 2nd, I love how after sitting down that rebound, she still finishes off the routine beautifully--doesn't give up, finishes it in style. A trouper, a true competitor, amazing athlete!

Although I love the fact that 3 Romanians win (I can never get upset when they do), Zamo broke my heart. I love that girl. She seems so down-to-earth and humble.

What awful equipment problems during these Olympics. The vault and the floor! If only all the athletes demanded that the problems be fixed when they knew something was wrong. Sydney has disgraced the games. Shame on them!

Australia just screwed up these Olympics. Vault was not set high enough. The floor was too hard and I think the measurements were off. Worst. Olympics. Ever. Way to go Australia.

The all round winner (Raducan) vaulted on the vault when it was at the incorrect height and she didn't fall or falter. It will always be on people's minds whether the vault controversy cost Sveta the Gold .

Who knows. She fell in her bars in the AA but she fell in the team finals too.

At these Olympics, she got 2 golds and a silver. The 2 golds came from the vault and floor finals, and the silver obviously came from the team final.

Yeah, I agree, they should have stopped the whole competition as soon as they found out the vault problem and restarted. Or at least let the girls who had already done vault redo both rotations. And I realize they didn't want to stop everything, but in Sveta's case, they were discussing the vault at the same time she fell on bars. If they had stopped everything for a few minutes, told the girls they could re-vault, she probably wouldn't have fallen. Too bad!!!!

I always liked Simona, too. She's no Podkopayeva in the dance department, but there is something likable about her. I think because she was quiet and not flashy. The type of athlete who some people didn't realize was so successful during her career just because she was never the boastful type. She didn't brag about how many medals she won, but handed over her gold to Raducan after that fiasco in the AA. That, to me, was true Olympic spirit.

The Australian Olympic committee should be ashamed of themselves for their ineptness with the equipment...these women and men trained their entire lives for usually one chance only to have the equipment fail...This AA final should have been cancelled and redone...

Yeah, it really was a mess. Which is just too bad, since for most of these girls, it was their one shot. Amy Chow finished 14th, so I guess NBC didn't feel the need to show her since she was never amung the leaders.

Yeah, she actually didn't have hardly any mistakes, plus there were so many other falls from the top gymnasts. It's just too bad she didn't have a good enough vault to really contend for a medal!

@garyj79 You cannot compare what they did on the 70s to what they do today. In an Olympiad, you cannot afford to make any mistakes like this or the Vault as a host.

Poor Zamo... you could just see after that fall, she just gave up on floor. Her dance didn't have any energy anymore.

@guolishan - no but i was pointing out how gymnasts today have it much easier than gymnasts (due to facilities and sprung floors) many years before...they should STFU about the floor being too 'hard' also I mentioned nothing about the vault controversy in my earlier comment !
