It’s so interesting how every F skill except the double layout is more rare than the H skills. Just shows how under valued a bunch of these skills are.

exactly. almost all elite gymnasts does a DL nowdays, while rarely we watch other amazingly (plastically talking) moves that should values more than a simple F, this video just proofs it

My theory as to why they haven’t upgraded these skills is cuz the FIG is really focusing on the artistry and not difficult tumbling. I like the emphasis on artistry but I also want more variety when it comes to the tumbling. A happy medium of both if you will.

Because those F skills have blind landing or a forward element. US team generally upgrades to double layout and Chuso because it’s easy to land in layout to pike position.

the WAG COP should change so that one of the counting elements must be a forward takeoff tumble, just like in MAG. That will instantly force gymnasts to train them

I’ve always loved how beautiful the double layout looks when executed properly-the extension shows the true beauty of the gymnast’s technique. I also really like the Dowell! It’s aesthetically pleasing to watch as forward tumbling is very rare ❤❤❤❤

What a wonderful list of skills and nice background information as well. I disagree on one point though. The double layout is most aesthetically pleasing when performed straight, not with any arch. I think this is quite clear to see but it is hard to find examples because the (cheating) arch position is accepted and not properly deducted for, like cowboying a triple back was accepted in the 80s. A straight body shape also makes twisting easier so you can progress to Chusovitina or Moors.

I’ve seen many people argue the opposite, you can’t please everyone. Jana Bieger did the double layout on floor with a straight body and I honestly prefer the arch.

You’re absolutely correct-it’s definitely a subjective thing, but I do believe the added “punch front” looks beautiful when properly executed. It’s so unexpected. I also love any apparatus with a twisting element in it! It looks so bad@ss; the men look like rockets 🚀 😍

Technically, a perfect layout position is meant to be STRAIGHT in the first rotation, not hollow or arch.

Because its harder to generate enough height forwards to complete the skill, especially in WAG. When doing the Dos Santos I you come from a roundoff back handspring that generates much more height

It makes no sense that the Heron is a F when the Silivas is a H. Either make the Heron a G or downgrade the Silivas

Silivas isn’t going to be downgraded. More capable gymnasts are abandoning Silivas for Moors and Chuso lol. Heron should be G or H, but FIG strongly discourages blind landing.

Just add 0.2 bonus for F+ forward skills. When you do double Arabian tuck / double front tuck, you can milk 0.2 CV. Once you change it to double Arabian pike / double front pike, it becomes unconnectable and useless. Many F+ skills are useless as WAG values overrated connection.

I can't believe a double layout is an F? It really seems more like an E. I mean ... a double back being a C, and double pike a D. I know I'm out of touch with gymnastics since the 90s, but it seems like some easier things have been re-classified as "hard" nowadays.

@ Even men gymnastics upgrades the double layout from D to E. No way a double layout is E, as proven in the past no women would do a E rated double layout. It's still a difficult and beautiful skill.

@@benrobinson77 And still gymnasts won't perform a E-rated double layout, as I wrote in my comment. FIG downgraded double layout once and gymnasts collectly abandon the skill. FIG then had no choice but to upgrade double layout to F. Double layout deserves an F, and it's infinitely better than a bunch of overrated CVs in women's gymnastics.

I am just pissed that a "simple commom" move like double layout values F, while a TRIPLE and a HALF (the level of difficulty is visibly bigger) values the same F?!? if you compare with Biles 1 (values G), is very unfair. Almost every single elite gymnast does a DL while sleeping, while the triples are very rare to watch someone doing properly and landing perfectly. the world federation should rethink the valuations (the triples should value more than DL and Biles 1)

3.5 twist is right at F because you can still connect the skill by marking it 3.25. Many general audience like double layout, and that’s why even MAG upgrades double layout from D to E. WAG WTC is correct for double layout and Biles 1 rating except F+ forward elements.
