There is too little emphasis on forward acrobatic skills and variety on floor in WAG. As you noted, even though Daiane Dos Santos' form on the layed out double Arabian was imperfect, her commitment to attempting it was notable. This was the only forward skill mentioned in the video. In terms of variety, Simone Biles' routines contained phenomenal difficulty, though short on range. In recent years, she included variations of the exact same skill in a single routine (i.e., full twisting-, double-twisting, and triple-twisting double backs, or double layouts and double layouts with half and/or full turns). Even with that kind of program, she still offers more variety than others. It is as if coaches worldwide have agreed to teach the same handful of elements, and have required gymnasts to choose their top 3 (full and/or double twisting double backs, double backward layouts, backward 1.5, double, or 2.5 twists, and the occasional tucked or piked double Arabians). Perhaps the judges might consider rewarding gymnasts who include more variety.

You keep saying Silivas should be lower, but so many gymnasts (Suni, Tiana, Josc, Skye, etc) are switching from Silivas to Chuso in Paris quad. Maybe enjoy more 2.5 twist + punch and back 1.5 + double tuck in LA quad?

The Biles I is such a cool skill, It's so magical how you can blink and suddenly you go from backward rotation to forward rotation! Really impressive skills, but slightly disappointing that the Heron isn't here (it's only rated F in the cop)

even if the silivas is lowered to a g, it will not kill the incentive as it is still a hard skill to perfect
@cocoroni10314 күн бұрын
It just kills Silivas to extinction as a skill, just like no one would do an E-rated double layout either.
@luchats4 күн бұрын
@@cocoroni1031 the silivas will not go extinct, that's a stretch. doing an e rated skill last is better than doing a d rated skill last like the double pike.

@@cocoroni1031gymnasts will just find the next best thing to compensate for it like vaulters have been doing with the cheng. When vaults got devalued, we saw even more chengs since it's a few tenths higher than the amanar now. Gymnasts are already doing chusos so while I wouldn't complain about the silivas being a G, the chuso would just become the new competitive H skill
@cocoroni10314 күн бұрын
@@murasakino101 Chuso was already the most performed G+ skill in Paris. A G-rated Silivas will be replaced by either Chuso, or other easier AE / CE connection. When we think about the element, we also need to factor into CV & cost efficiency. The discussion of downgrade should be dismissed now because CV is further inflated. Most F+ forward tumblings deserve 0.2 bonus because there is no chance for CV compared to double arabian & very difficult to land properly.
@murasakino1014 күн бұрын
@@cocoroni1031 yeah that's why I was saying that gymnasts are already switching to chusos now so a downgraded silivas wouldn't make a huge difference to them. I agree that F+ rated front tumbling and front tumbling in general deserves higher ratings, but with the new floor changes, we're about to see a lot of the same combination passes we've been seeing. Great change for gymnasts that struggle on floor at least

the strange thing is when rebeca submitted the 1 1/2 double tucked (aka The Heron now) back in 2017 it was given a G rating, why did they devalue it coming into the 2022 quad when it still wasn't even in the code cos rebeca never did it? they should've left it at G for 2022-2024
@cocoroni10314 күн бұрын
It can be H in my opinion. It's difficult to connect any skill and it's a blind landing.
@TwistedApple4 күн бұрын
@@cocoroni1031 i would love for it to be H because forward landing skills are criminally underrated, but at the same time it's literally too good to be true cos yk.. FIG

I actually miss a triple twist, it’s beautiful when done well. Too little variety these days.
@SecondAccountMP6663 күн бұрын
The Silivas really needs to be lowered to it's former G Rating. Almost every super-elite gymnast does nowdays. Fun Fact: on Rio 2016 Olympic WAG floor final, ONLY Aly Raisman didn't make the Silivas. In Tokyo 2021 Olympics EF FX, 3 out of 4 medallist had the Silivas (bronze tied, Melnikova didn't perform Silivas, but Murakami did).
@TwistedApple3 күн бұрын
well they could lower it (they won't) but they're better off raising some of the F rated skills to G or H, mainly The Heron (double tuck 1 1/2) and The Maldonado (triple fwd twist)

@@TwistedApple No, we know they won't FIG rarely fix the mistakes they make. And when they do it's covered as changes of a new CoP.

@ it should stay where its at. it's hard. popularity should be a reason for its devaluation. The Moors is pretty popular, but its rare to see someone do it with satisfying form and execution.
