Well I went digging through the archives and found this old gem. This is fantastic. I've only added gypsy jazz to my practice routine within the last year, but the difference has been nothing short of amazing.

That's so good to hear! Indeed, learning gypsy jazz brings your technique on very quickly!

That sounds sweet on the Tele! I had to click on the video after seeing Django mentioned and a tele in the thumbnail. Nice! I learned this tune like ten years ago but need to go back and relearn it. I also played it a little different so this will be fun.

Thanks dude, glad you enjoyed it! Tele & Django go together so well somehow don't they?!

So impressed with how Django knew/made use of the arpeggios. And those horizontal moves! And so impressed with your transcription/teaching. Thank you! 🙏🏻

Thank you so much Joe! Really glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, Django had a real deep way of understanding harmony for sure. Always fascinating to uncover some of his secrets! 👌🏻

@@AlexFarranGuitar Ah, yes! Alex, I'm assuming you did the transcription yourself, and that you will have a video on some useful ways of transcribing solos. Is that so?
@AlexFarranGuitar Жыл бұрын
Indeed Joe!.. I always transcribe everything myself by ear. I do intend to make a video about ear training/transcribing at some point.. it’s a difficult one to condense into a 20 minute video as it’s truly a lifetime’s work.. but I shall give it my best shot! 😬😅

@@AlexFarranGuitar I look forward to that! I do enjoy your videos and learn much from them. 🎶😄

Great stuff Alex! Thanks. I’ve been playing mostly chords (rhythm) guitar for over 40 years. I’m working on taking solos, so I’m playing scales, arpeggios, etc. - slowly piecing it all together.

As a fiddle player testing the GJ waters, hats off for the best and clearest exposition on enclosures and ornamented arpeggios I have ever seen. You've made a fan (and subscriber)

Fantastic lesson Alex, thanks for everything you are doing on this channel. Also, just a song suggestion, I'd love to hear your take on a 2 guitar version of the classic 'Harlem Nocturne' at some point down the line? (ps I may have made this suggestion on the wrong forum at some point via email - my apologies). Again well done on a great lesson, I'm just getting into more jazz oriented guitar and find this channel to be invaluable.

Great suggestion! I love that tune and will definitely add it to the list of songs to cover very soon. No need to apologise for making a request!.. I welcome it!.. so thank you 🙏🏻 and thanks for the kind words, I’m so glad you’re enjoying my videos 🍻

Thanks, yeh I did a cover of Brian May solos years ago, and then when the Bohemian Rhapsody film came out, suddenly thousands of people subbed to my channel and the video became really popular after many years 🤷🏻♂️ KZbin is strange. But I can see your channel booming overnight. The quality is very good 👍 good luck

I know I should comment concerning this fantastic, free lesson, but no. Alex, you play great and sound great, but taking your tele out in public with no clothes on is, as Sylvester would say "dithpicable" 🤭 It's no wonder Louis would not grace this video with his presence 🤣
@AlexFarranGuitar Жыл бұрын
Haha thanks Graeme, your comment made me laugh out loud! 😂😂 This tele is going through a bit of a transitional phase.. different pickups, tweaking the heights etc. Soon I’ll present it fully clothed again! 😂
