Found your videos tonight. Love your mandolin jazz. Reminds me of Stephane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt. Ordered my mandolin today and need a teacher like you but am in Charleston.

Thank you for showing how versatile the mandolin can be! Wonderful playing! It's nice to hear something other than the usual bluegrass, Irish or Old Time fiddle tunes being played on mando (all of which I love too). Hi Isaac! Do you have any recommendations for Jazz tunes and/or resources for tunes for an intermediate player to start picking at? I love the way jazz sounds on the mandolin. Your sound is fantastic

It’s hard to answer in a few sentences, but I’ll give it a try. Try to play what you hear and what you like. Get a real book, and the Django Fakebook, sheet music, etc. Learn the common jazz chord shapes that happen in every song and start learning tunes. Intuitively you’ll start to figure out that there are easier songs and harder ones. So pick tunes that you hear and can sing the melody back, etc. You’ll be playing in no time!

So good. I'm a fairly new player, learning mostly in a bluegrass context. These videos are expanding me sense of what the Mandolin can do. This is just beautiful stuff. I'd love to see a video on some of the players that influenced you.
