Your comment is sweet but we have to be honest or else it takes away from the actually beautiful. No, nobody would truly view Gypsy as outwardly "so pretty" if they kept it real. But looks don't dictate who we are. If you meant she's so pretty inside, I'm with you. But I believe it serves nobody to lie to them just to appear kind. The difference being the slender man girls were 12 when they committed their crime, Gypsy was 23 maybe 24, an adult either way so the cases are not really comparable. She snuck out during a movie with her mother to have sex with her bf in the disabled toilet. She was capable of planning her own mother's murder with her boyfriend. But she was trapped in that house with her mother and murdering her was her only way to escape? You have to be really dumb to believe that. Nicole MacDonald exactly. The mother must have had cluster B personality disorder narcissism or sociopathy probably her extremely abused upbringing formed that persona she played for the world including victimizing and taking hostage over her own daughter. These mothers (and I write in plural for reason there are millions of women like Dee Dee) are extremely dangerous when their children hit puberty and become to demand privacy and personal rights. That is the most dangerous time for crime and in this case Gypsy Rose exploded. Her soul was a prisoner since birth she had to break out so she did sadly on a hard way. I wonder how many damaged mothers learns from this story. Almost 0. Their ego would stop them to learn from this sad case.

Morally that wasn't murder, but self defense. I can't conprehend how legally that was seen different.
@giapaul79735 ай бұрын
Legally the killing wasn’t self defense since it was planned. Though I do believe it was self defense, the way that the killing took place wasn’t legally self defense. According to the law in a self defense case, you need to prove that your life was in danger at that moment. The fact that it was planned is what didn’t make it self defense. I do believe that it was self defense but according to the law it wasn’t a self defense case. Since it was planned that made it a first degree murder case. Morally yes it was what society views self defense but it’s not what the law defines self defense. Gypsy understandably felt that the only way to be free of her mom was to have her mom killed. Legally speaking in a self defense case, the person has to prove in that moment the person felt that their life was in danger, all that matters is that particular moment not any other time. Gypsy couldn’t prove that her life was in danger at that moment since it was planned. She wanted to escape from the years of abuse and control her mother put her through. I don’t know if she felt that her mother would kill her but I know she wanted to escape the abuse. The way that society defines self defense isn’t the same as the law defines it. The fact that it was planned took away from it being a self defense case.

Yet people say why didn’t she leave, well she ran away once, her mom found her took her, smashed her laptop & threatened to smash her fingers next, she would abuse her whenever she did something wrong such as get up from her wheelchair. Lady Heart i see your point but the mother isnt entirely innocent, she would beat Gypsy and chain her to her bed if she used her legs to walk. I agree that Gypsy could have ran tot he police but she probably didnt have the common sense to do that cause she trusted her mother so much, but when her mother finally hit her last nerve she didn’t think of any other way out of it. She’s probably somewhat mentally ill because her mom would drug her throughout the years too when she definitely did NOT need the medication. Can something good really come out of putting people who so badly need therapy behind bars? Gypsy Rose is a unique case because of all of the media attention and the crazy abuse by her mother, but she's not the only person sitting in prison who felt that murder was the only way out of a horrible life. I just don't believe that prison can be more helpful than therapy for these people. This goes for her boyfriend as well.
