GYPSY TALES PODCAST

Күн бұрын

Fresh off his win in this years MXGP World Motocross Championship, Jorge Prado is on vacation in the US doing some Supercross. I met Jorge earlier this year at the Arco event and we talked about making the podcast happen at some point through the season. We were never able to make it happen, but with Jorge and I being in California at the same time it was the perfect opportunity. It was also great timing with his recent showing at the MXON in France and also fresh off a Supercross track on a 450 for the first time.

Grande Jorge. Love the way you speak English. I bet you learned that in Belgium. Im Belgian born and living in Spain. My 2 boys love you. You're a great model for my kids. This year they did there first autonomic championship in Aragon. And they won there first races in amateur class. You make us proud with your performance and personality. A shame that in Spain motercross is not a recognized sport.

I recently purchased an archives subscription for mxgp and have gotten really into watching the 18,19,20,21,22,23 season. And dam the mxgp amateur emu series is so much better then the US amateur series. They race the same tracks as the top guys, they have a 125 class , 250 and open class. Two strokes are allowed. It opens up the fans to who these young guns are

It's silly, I know, but I feel this is so personal to me. As a Spaniard that has lived in the US for 7 years and has a subscription to AMA SX and MX as well as MXGP, being motocross races my top to do weekend priority whenever there's a race, having the first MXGP champion in the history of our country riding A1 is a f.... weat dream. I'm watering just by having heard of it. Pleeeease Jorge, make it happen! I would certainly fly over to make sure I don't miss you side by side with Eli at the gate! Crazy stuff!

Glad he touched on the enormous differences in actual true motocross and what motocross has unfortunately morphed into in the US. Jorge lives the World Champion mindset, humble, honest and down to earth quality and best of all a great ambassador for the sport worldwide. Liked his observation on Jett’s accomplishment “he’s got flow on the easy US tracks, try to have flow at Teutschenthal” brutally honest 👍

Says the guy who's never raced an actual US national....He sounds dumb asf, honestly. It's talk like that- that gets Deegan the hate he recieves. Seriously, "he's got flow on easy US tracks?". GTFO lol. Has never raced Unadilla, has never raced Hangtown, has never raced Millville, Southwick, High Point....come on. Jett did the same thing at Ernee- a track he's never been to and Jorge saying that place had lines? It was a super one lined track, and Jett was the only one who seemed to be able to pass on it.

idk I feel like Jett would have flow anywhere he goes personally, after he adapts of course both Lawrences have MXGP experience, Hunter for sure, so I don't think it would be a problem after some time to adapt not taking anything away from Prado Not saying that Jett would just dominate, I just think he would rise to the top fairly quickly, much like Roczen when he came over, or what Prado may do

Quite an amazing young man you are! I'm very excited to know we Americans will be treated to a few races with you going up against Jett, Hunter, Dylan, Roczen, and our US men like Tomac, Sexton, Anderson, Stewart, Webb, Masterpool, Craig, Plessinger, AC9, it's gonna be some exciting racing for sure! I noticed that about 30mins in too. It's cool how he doesn't stop to think what he should say bc of sponsors, bc of media, or what's the politically correct thing to say, etc. He just speaks from the heart and isn't afraid to admit that he gets scared, nervous, jealous, or whatever. It is not like the American racers at all, over here everyone is so scared to say the wrong thing, so they just give the same cookie cutter, generic, bs answers. Very few are cool to just be themselves and not worry what others think. Gotta respect Jorge for being his own man and being an open book! ✌️

Listening to Jorge talk about SX and Anaheim 1 is exactly why he is a champ!! He has absolute belief in himself and his abilities, but its not an over-inflated belief..... he still respects his competitors and the challenge. If he's even decent thru the whoops he would prob do pretty well in SX and I'm 99.9% sure he would kill it in the AMA MX series!! A few things, First you have to appreciate him talking English the whole interview. He speaks really well. I’m an Aussie and of course the Lawrence bros are killing it however I cannot wait for prado to mix things up in the states Imagine Lawrence bros, prado and deegan in a few years. As long as the American journalist aren’t biased and give the recognition to the MXGP riders. How Jason from riderx carried on about herlings back in 2017 was a complete disgrace. This is what you want for Motorcross.. the best of the best and America isn’t the best of the best… disagree? I don’t see many AMA riders go and throw themselves in MXGP and I wish they would I think that would be good for the sport to go for the MXGP champion and AMA champion… Anyway embrace it and be thankful that prado is coming across, hopefully a few more head to the US even for a race. Interesting comments about BEATING & BEING BETTER than Jett Lawrence. The quote “Lies, Damn Lies & Statistics” comes immediately to mind. When in every race, Jett Lawrence was the only rider who closed the gap on anyone in front of him, and widened the gap on anyone behind him. In other words he was consistently going the fastest in every race, even the race where he dropped the bike and had 39 riders in front of him, at his first time visit to a track infamously hard to pass on. (everyone drops their bike occasionally, and far more often than Jett Lawrence). That race saw him pass more riders than almost all the rest of the riders combined for the weekend. I counted 8 World Champions, with 15 World Titles between them, as well as Seewar and Geerts with 9 Runner-Up World Titles, that he went past for the weekend, some more than once. Also I think Jorge at the back of his mind knows all this but dares not speak it (and he didn’t). He also knows full well that when he and Gajser and Renaux and Febvre and Co. came to an actual head to head duel with Jett, that Jett went past them so easily, and then pulled away from them just as quickly. Now that, is an example of an honest “Statistic” for you. Now the sad part, where Jorge tried to allude that in Race 3, Kenny and Jett got an insurmountable break, and that he would have loved to have been up front with them, so that he could have raced them. If only.... Well no. Kenny got a tiny break, followed by Renaux then Jorge, and then Jett. So its not that Jorge was left behind at the start, its that when Jett did an effortless outside/inside move on him, he could not keep up and kept falling further behind, same as everyone else. The most inconvenient “Statistic” of all. And there we have it, with an all things even, no excuses start, Sunday Motocross returned to the predictable norm of everyone else (this time the rest of the world) following Jett Lawrence around a dirt track. Finally yes, I do agree that Jett did have a bad weekend. (but only by his standards). P.S. I guess Jorge was asked, and would have been better off saying nothing, but then he went into all these facetious thinly veiled put-downs to try and detail his own superiority, while deliberately ignoring the herd of elephants in the room. Sorry but after watching these childishly silly, misleading, and not to mention conceited comments something had to be said.

A very likable guy! And he’s a lot like Jett, kind of the same guy, they both have this superstar aura around them, and they look good too, don’t get me wrong, I mean they really look like pro athletes. I think they’re both good for the sport. So I don’t get the hate? Prado has a winners mindset which you need to have to be on this level. He’s a world champ, 19 rounds 38 motos. He’s good very good!

Jett was taking it easy for the first half of the qualifying race just learning the track. When he pulled the trigger he moved forward and was catching Prado. With a couple more laps Jett would have caught him. I think a rivalry is sure building. Prado won practice at mxon😂

Beat Jett at 80%. After a a week break between supercross and then a whole MX season...his neurological system is going to be slow. Would need around 4-6 weeks to recover the neuro system. The connective tissues and muscles just need food and your good 3 days later.

He's 1000% a bit disillusioned with the AMA scene. Lots of critiquing and comparing when he's never had to race an AMA national track. Unless you want to count RedBud, but as I recall, he didn't podium there. Jett beat the brakes off him at Ernee as well. I don't understand how he looks at the Euros coming to America, sees Vialle come over- 2x world champ, and struggle the way he did. He see's that and thinks "meh, easy". Sexton, Roczen, Jett, Tomac, Anderson (when he actually tries), plus a list of our 250 guys would give him everything he could handle. He's basing his experience and gauging references from....Christian Craig?? Lol. Come on.

That lil guy made me a fan of him. Jade is the #1 ambassador for the sport outside of the racers himself. He has done it his way and his viewership is proof that it the the right way. I just hope that mx sports and feld do not get their claws in him as they have Johnny Hopper and ruin his podcasts. Thank you from someone who has loved the sport since the early 80s.

So Prado says he beat Jett in 2 of the 3 times they raced on a track that Jett has never raced on yet Jett beat Prado easily in the one time they raced at Red Bud last year. Not to mention, had that qualifying race been a 30 min moto instead, it was obvious Jett was catching Prado by the lap and would have inevitably got him

How many Championships did Jett win as he “grew up” on those tracks? Jett didn’t win until moving to easier series in the US. You can use the usual “if” “he probably” “he could of” etc, the common excuses and US fan pivots. Facts matter, fantasies don’t.

@georgelynch6139 Jett literally never raced on that track before, and he just proved at MXON in the past 2 years that he is overall better than any of the MXGP riders right now. 1st and 2nd overall in the MXGP class was Roczen and Jett, two AMA riders.
