It wasn't answered if the solo was mimed or not. I would presume it was. My understanding is almost all instrumentation at Super bowl performances are not performed live. Its understandable

I believe it is mimed. Just listen to the tremolo part and watch her fingers. Nothing against her though. The solo was great. Definitely someone played in the back or it was pre recorded.

Spoiler alert: it was mimed. As I said right at the beginning, I decided to focus on what happened musically and how an aspiring musician can apply the general concepts to their own solos. The miming issue has already been discussed past the point of exhaustion by other KZbinrs.

@@tristanavakian ahh I must've missheard you the first watch. I thought you said something along the lines of 'we'll discuss if it was mimed or any good' but I now realize you actually just clarified that wasn't the point of the video. My apologies and I appreciate the response

Very interesting points about tension, singable, guitar/voice unison. Great insights about her background in music that shines through in this performance. Appreciate the church comment too 🙂 know your place in the setting, and be about the music first. Cheers!

Great breakdown of H.E.R.’s performance. She’s quickly becoming one of my favorite musicians.

The pentatonic scale has a curious effect because depending on who you ask it's "underrated" or "overrated" but what's undeniable is that if you know how to make the most out of it you can manage to do great things with it. Imho anyone who despises the pentatonic for being "too basic" doesn't know anything and just wants to sound smart. Good video mate, and the solo from H.E.R was pretty neat.

Olsom. Give her the great credit she deserves. I think this guy nailed it. When he explains. Thank you. So sad to see that many cant except she is a great artist. Im almost sure this is why she played for the half time.

Thank You for giving H.E.R. performance clarity, she's an amazing Guitarist who's upsetting a lot of people because She's GOT IT!!!

Thanks. I do realize that she’s no Matteo Mancuso or Guthrie Gowan, but I’d rather focus on the positives than tear her down as many others are doing… even though negativity generates more likes, subs, clicks, viewing time etc. There’s already enough shittiness in the world!

The solo she did with Usher was not her playing it live. she may have recorded it and fake played it live. her fingers dont match up

You do realise she mimed - it was pre-recorded! kzbin.info/www/bejne/onvdq4iVbL5poKM

I do realize that. As I mentioned straight away in the introduction, I don’t really care. It’s an analysis of a simple but fairly effective performance. With a clickbaity title, yes: I am guilty of that, along with nearly every successful KZbinr, including some of my favourites - I’m looking at you, Justin Hawkins ;)

Well, it’s already outperformed my other recent videos by quite a bit, so it’s fair to say that it’s a topic of interest, at least in my tiny demographic. I try to provide some value in my videos regardless of whether they reference current affairs. Feel free to view my other content if you like.
