Hélène never makes it look effortless, and this is meant as a high compliment. Her focus and intensity are scary, as her playing reflects the years of disciplined practice and thought she's put in to create her playing. She gets every technical and dynamic nuance in this piece, as she always does, while giving it her all. There is nothing left in reserve when she is finished. She's just as focused and charming in interviews, whether in English or French. And of course, she also puts tremendous efforts into her wolf conservation center. What a marvelous player and person. I already have my tickets to see her in Chicago when she comes around next year.

i was indeed struck by her extreme involvement here. She is counting like mad. Very unusual...even for her. But then again...this is a quintet...( not a solo like the Chaconne for example ) ( or a Piano and Orchestra Opus ) and as the leader...she indeed has to keep to the meter like an anchor. I love her. Yes...LOVE...

This is one of the most demanding piano parts in chamber music. It's a part that was written for Clara Schumann, one of the great pianists of the 19th century, and the intensity just never lets up -- it's a test of stamina. Anyway it's great fun to watch Grimaud just nail every bit of it. The tempos are brisk (esp. the scherzo) but I love it -- so much energy, and at the same time such elegance. It's a wonderful performance.

The more I listen to this uptaking, the more I love it. It is not only Hélène, it is also Roland, Nathalie, Jean and Emmanuel. Chamber music has that privilege that it is always togetherness, not one and the rest. And this togetherness creates sometimes wonders, like here.

Everyone here is superb, beginning with Helene Grimaud's impassioned playing, but I'd like to give a shout out to the camera crew which is always in the right place at the right time. That takes a lot of preparation. And, as an amateur violist, also to the beautiful warm tone of Jean Dupouy's viola.

As there is pouring down on me what can not be but is and won't be there for much longer, I told ya for sure,... ...I'm on to reach for the media of the Netherlands in the moment... To the music: It is a piece of the beauty of heaven where everything is calm and fine... ...I like how Schumann frames the first movement with two themes but not that tight interrelated as the form of the Kopfsatz from the 18. century would demand for... the part at around 6:00 imitates probably that what would be the cadenza in a piano concert... ...the second movement reminds me at the beginning at the one of Schuberts death and the maiden ( also the second movement... ) but as I said my pitch is all but perfect, is there a < g > in both beginnings without a f-sharp in Schumanns? Anyway also the second movement as Schuberts death and the maiden is of tremendous and redundant beauty as is the whole quintet. I would like to jump into the music and stay there for the rest of my life, and in case anybody be out there, that feels the inclination to get me out of this music, I would want to call in every single A10 ( Warthogs... ) at my command to throw at them and they would need to run, you bet... ( they got more than the gatling, actually... ). Le p'tit Daniel😇

@@staffanolofsson8201 The Beaux Arts Trio's debut was in 1955 and they retired in 2008. They had several player changes in their 50+ years together. I don't remember when they recorded this Schumann Quintet but I think it was in the 1980's. I think I still have that recording on cassette tape but I have no idea where it is. You might be able to find it somewhere. Older recordings are often reissued as CDs and that recording might be one of them. You would have to hunt for it. I suggest looking for "Schumann op 44" + "Beaux Arts Trio". Of course it would be much easier to simply listen to this recording by Hélène Grimaud, Roland Daugarel, Nathalie Lamoureux, Jean Dupouy and Emmanuel Gaugué. This recording really is just as good as that of the Beaux Arts Trio (+2) that I mentioned. Perhaps slightly better.

I am really impressed with Hélène Grimaud. I discovered her about 6 or 7 years ago. I have worked on the piano part of this Schumann Quintet and it is NOT easy. Quite difficult for much of it. But hearing Hélène Grimaud play it here with no stumbles that I could detect, was impressive. I love this entire Quintet but especially the slow movement and the last page of the final movement is truly grand.

Warthogs as I said got a gatling and this weapon is actually called GAU - 8/A - avenger cannon with seven barrels that do spin - and the ammo is depleted uranium and because it is crafted thereof it can pierce tanks and give them a good momentum to find the way down to behemoth were the tanks of the dark do belong! They fire it at a rate per second of 66,6 ( ...I found out by what I told you about the rate per minute... ...easy mental calculation still ) and isn't it great the devil is being shot at with a rate consisting in this quotient per second? I want to throw A10's after those keen on getting me out of the heaven I did conjure with respect to this piece of heaven of music... ...what might be a paradigm to actually survive an attack pulled off by a Warthog? There ain't no, just dream on... ...with an approaching Warthog you are off to get a meet and greet with you maker, be it God be it Behemoth... ...but for those who like Krautsalat... ...you might try to escape just running, but the difference in the respective velocities and the relativism of velocity itself would it make still easier for the Warthog since it lays down a dispersion of fire to a given area, where it is, if you ran away, actually less likely all the more to survive offering more surface of your body as a target... ...just stay, where you are and get down with an as much diminished surface of your body as possible to just hope that the dispersion might not reach you, but as I said that's Krautsalat... ...you doesn't stand a chance... ...and if you decide to jump in a car, in case you have one, don't you be relieved seeing the Warthog overflying you without unleashing heaven or hell ( ...it depends on what God possibly would have in store for you... ), since it would go in loop and locking on to you from a distance so remote you wouldn't have a clue of the second, the button gets pressed inside the plane to seal the assignment... ...und ist es nicht wunder-wunder-schön? ...das Proletenkind und wie es sich bemüht die Schöpfung und ihre Ätiologien ( Kafka go home... ...that is head the heck for germany! ) zu verstehen, um dann noch Empfehlungen zu geben, was man besser machen sollte und was man besser nicht machen sollte?
