If you hung it under the key hanger then your kids could reach it and put their bags and coats on it right away. If you put it higher up on the other wall then the bags would still get dumped on the bench and you'd have to hang them up. If it was by the door it would be the least effort and therefore the least resistance getting your kids to use it.

I think you're spot on here, I was also thinking for the long term future, if the boys get into the habit of hanging their backpacks and coats and putting shoes away, possibly she could look into hanging a little 'station' on the wall on the left hand side so that the boys could then straight away empty their homework into the station so that paper clutter gets dealt with immediately and school stuff doesn't get mixed in with the post pile.

I think you should raise the home key holder so the top is even with the top of the window. Then you could line the top of the new shelf with the bottom of the windowsill

I am so glad you started "no spend" days. I do lots of crafts and I have about 3% of the stuff you do. Ignore the various cartoon characters and Superheroes. Just go for the basic colors. My kids had the figures and a few accessories. We built the houses and forts from cardboard. They are in their 40's. My grandkids are in high school. Tina, Al's wife

Make sure the rack is extremely well anchored, backpacks are heavy. I suggest using adjustable molly bolts. They were the only thing that kept our coat rack on the wall. I agree on hanging it low. Also, your painting is fabulous! Frame that sucker!

Wow, soon the floor is all free. Really shows what you can do if you keep up doing chunks at a a time. As for the hanging... Under the key hanger makes most sense as a natural ”dumping ground”. If the bar is too long you could perhaps put the hooks alone unto the wall.

I debated about putting this out here - I don't want to sound opinionated or like a prude, or question your taste, because we all have our own but I noticed the high number of agreed thumbs up on this last post... And I understand if you delete this post and/or me, too... but here goes... What do your kids think of the wall hanging above the dining room table? In our state, we removed cigarettes, alcohol, and porn magazines out of sight of kids. This would be great for a pub setting or a bachelor pad... family atmosphere with little kids? IMO, no.

It can be used as a “mud area” and your guests won’t see the clutter by the front door. Then, get a buffet table to match the dining room table. You can use it for storage and create more living space for you and your family. No, I’m not an interior designer...just an opiniated gal who loves hgtv! 😂

whoohoo!! this was an awesome episode! you can literally stand in front of both washer/dryer unobstructed now. i also love that you pointed out and acknowledged the churn. I also hoard, and when I "tidy", I sometimes just churn. But it keeps away that anxiety, so that I'm positive enough to continue...and eventually later down the road can declutter.

You could hang it by the door under the key holder or you could hang it in the laundry room. Even though you don't use that area to enter and exit , that could be the place to hang them. That way they aren't visually cluttering the living area. It would just take practice and time for the children to get into the routine of hanging it there.

I think hang the hooks below the key hooks within easy reach for your kids, because you want your kids to hang it up themselves.It’ll just become a habit, easy to reach but off the floor and leaving your bench open to sit on to put shoes on, or put your other bags like swim bag or baseball or things going out the next day. If you paint the laundry room pale yellow (love this idea) your painting, framed up would look gorgeous there. It’s really beautiful. You are so creative; it’ll give you a little happy buzz to see it on the wall.

I have lost certain items I remember feeling the sting of them being ruined, but I can't remember specifics about what they were, which mean they weren't was important as you thought they were. The painting is GORGEOUS GIRL you should definitely have that in your living/dining room or bedroom! Also I think the best way to put the coat rack is under the key holder, and it's okay to move it up a little higher, if anything that's great because it'll help give the room height and it'll look like there's more space

I think it would work better to hang the shelf with the hooks closer to the door so it’s not awkward to use like the corner might be. That might be a good spot for some hooks for things you don’t grab as often. You could hang your key rack by the door a littler higher and have the shelf under it at a height your youngest could use comfortably. Also you could perhaps hang your key rack on the other side of the door - I’m not able to picture how that spot looks. We got lots of hooks put up recently and I love it.

I value function over the appearance of things, so regarding the rack, to me, it needs to be right inside the door and low enough to where the boys can easily hang their own stuff up, on their own. Your ‘16 year old painting’ is beautiful and breathtaking and should go in a place of prominence. My vote is above your dining room table. 😊 You are doing so well! Bet it won’t take many more ‘episodes’ for you to finish that laundry room wall up! So proud of you, love the videos! Hello! I love your channel and your fun personality. I have found you only few days ago, but I have watched so many of your videos already. You made such such an amazing progress. Of course things come in again, but it's great to see that you are starting to talk about them differently. One theme that keeps popping up is the fact you regret not having the girl or another child. Have you thought of talking to a therapist or doing hypnose? From all the comments you have made in your past videos you clearly have some strong connections to childhood, the time when your children when they were younger and even this 'unborn' girl and I feel the hoarding comes from that. Hang the coat rack under the key rack. It has to b at a height that yours boys can comfortably reach. If it's too low under the key rack (difficult to tell on video) then raise your key rack and hang higher. I don't like the idea of it on the other wall because that's your dining room wall. U r doing an AMAZING job and the painting u did is beautiful! U r very talented!😀💟

I just finished watching all your videos. You have changed so much, I'm sooooooo happy for you and your progress! For the kids toys and books and clothes, when you get to those rooms again: i know you have a hard time letting them go, so get your kids to help with that. You organize them into gategories, then give the boys a tub or box per category that is smallish that everything in the gategory doesnt fit in. Then say you can keep everything that fits in the tub and you still play with, read or wear. And then when they are done, go though the things boys are letting go of and sort them to sell, donate and sentimental for you. And try to keep that last gategory small. These are the things your boys felt good letting go. So if you do it like this, maybe you can make more room easier. And teach the boys the joy of letting go and giving to others. Keep making the videos, you inspire many people!

I think you should hang it under the key holder. Bags for kids don't have to hang that high because that will actually make it more difficult for them to reach (especially if they are heavy with school supplies)

I love Storybook Land! I used to live halfway between Philly and A.C. before I moved down here to GA. With the coat rack- I’d say either under your home plaque, or halfway down the sidewall, that way your kids can reach to put away their own bags.

Okay so I keep thinking about this space and I think 🤔 I came up with an idea that would maybe be helpful. In my thoughts for the laundry room I feel like you should keep the big shelving unit where it is by the door leading into the house and utilize it for overflow kitchen stuff like seasonal plates and things that you don’t use all the time. I would also store party stuff there like decorations so it would be all ready for party’s and birthdays. Along with that theme maybe the stuff you are collecting for operation give a child and extra regift toys. That way all the will be together. Maybe also put the extra school supplies there? On the main wall across from the washer and dryer I’d put a long table. This can be a folding table but also craft and wrapping table. So maybe a stool under it. I would put storage behind the bathroom door for crafting things and put two shorter storage drawer sets under the ends of the table. In those you can put tools you will need for your crafts, hot glue, scissors, tape things like that. Some shelves above the table you could store your wreaths so they can be used as decorations year round and you can decide when the season comes if you’d like to sell the ones you have or make new ones. No pressure just whatever your beautiful crafty mind would like to do. Maybe make sure the shelf you use up there has a bar on the bottom to hang clothes hangers for clothes that come out of the wash so you can get that done and put away as soon as the cloths are washed. I would keep seasonal decorations besides party stuff in containers in the basement labeled. Hope you understand what I’m trying to describe and don’t feel pressure to take my idea but just putting it out there. Hope you’re having an amazing vacation!

Maybe get rid of the bench and hang the hooks instead? I know for me, in my house, any surface welcomes clutter, so the bench would be a catch-all for me. Putting things on the wall keeps them off the floor, making it easier to sweep and clean, etc. Great job in the laundry room! :)

I personally would not hang the coat rack too high as your kids should be able to reach it. Otherwise, the bags will not be hung there. I am not sure that the coat rack would fit under the keys as the wall seems too small to fit. So it really depends on how many bags you have to hang. If there are only two, I personally would maybe just get two hooks and then hang them either under the keys or over the bench depending on how big the bags are and where your kids can reach them the easiest. I can understand that you want to use things you already have but it might not be the best fit.

It would pull the whole area together. Have you been using your laundry door to access the backyard more during summer? Hang the coat hooks under the key hook sign, move the key hook sign higher if needed Definitely hang the picture you painted! You are so talented!! If you want to fix that basket with the blue ribbon, put it on a flat surface and then put hardback textbooks or books inside where it is misshapen. Add enough weight to make the bottom completely flat like it should be. Leave it like that for a few days (longer if needed) and it will be fixed! You could use it to make a gift basket for someone for Christmas. You can also flatten the poster board and papers that get crumpled this way. 😄

Love the painting, hang it somewhere you enjoy it! maybe in your new craft area. as for the rack with the hangers, I think you need to hang it where it makes the most sense being used by your kids. I also want things to look pretty, but the backpanks and bags are always on that bench anyway right? 1. do the backpacks actually fit hanging on the coat rack? 2. if yes do you like the effect of it? 3. they should be the nearest possible to the door and at the level your kids can reach them. Someone suggested to bring the key rack higher and hang the shelf to align with the window and I think that is a great idea if it works for you! I LOVE HOW FUN AND OPTMISTIC YOU ALWAYS ARE! 💜 and for the creative room makeover, yay for yellow! and I would invest on a lot of nice white shelving all along that side if you can, so you can get organised. If you are going to put a crafting table you can still put long shelves all along the wall on the higher end and all the way on the sides of the table...you could do a long bench like larger shelving that is also a space to craft, wrap presents, have things while they are drying from glue or paint, or whatever... and underneath that level more shelves or drawers...you do not need to spend a fortune for this, and you can do this a little at a time, and with your handy husband I am sure he can make something fab (or just an inexpensive simple white shelving system) LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR NEXT ONES!!! baci baci

Hey! I wouldn’t hang it on the same wall as the drink picture. It just isn’t right there. I’d say either hang it under the ‘home’ key ring or, instead of hanging up that rack. You can get individual hooks. Not on a rack just three hooks and hang them up under the ‘home’ key ring thing. It wouldn’t look so weird

I can honestly say that I personally would not want bags hanging and shoes laying around my living room. That is what will continue the visible clutter. I would hang that in the laundry room. I am sure they are capable of grabbing from the laundry room and still walk out the front door. The more clutter you can keep out of your living space, the better it will be to maintain it going forward.

I’m kind of against the coat hanger. Usually the walls get dirty and backpacks are usually too heavy. I store our backpacks at the kitchen table. Then during breaks they get washed and sit in the laundry room on a shelf. Jackets and hoodies go in the coat closet or hung over a chair when frequently used. But otherwise I think it can work under the keys, or it may work in the laundry room

You gotta realize how dirty these bags get every day?!? They hit the floor, seats, bus, desks, ground and collect every germ imaginable. They hang on the back of the chair or sit next to their chair. My kids actually don’t have bus service, since we live to close. So the bags only sit in a locker all day and maybe the hallway floor for a bit. We actually are never sick. 2/3 kids had strep throat 3 years ago, and have not had a fever or anything since then.

Lol, settle petal The elf cloud thing and all her other things were not sorted and categorised. She's learnt to do that now and created homes in various storage bins. When she has all the categories together she'll be able to see just how much she has in each category and she may prefer to declutter down to just those seasonal things she really enjoys using and has time to use.

Kims Whims you obviously don’t get it - the cloud was used at Christmas - that pile is up to 6yrs old...she either flung it up there a great distance or opened the other rear door and threw it up there.

Maybe move the bench under the "home" sign & then hang the coat rack to left under the window, low enough that the boys can hang up their own backpacks on it.

I think the hanger would lookbest and be most functional under the window/above the bench
