I love that your things now have homes! That was such a stumbling block last year. Also love that you are really starting to “see” your stuff. You know when things don’t belong, aren’t needed, or can go to someone else.

Nice work. I love an organized sock drawer! I would suggest taking the holiday clothes out and put them in the holiday totes. You don’t need Christmas socks most of the year and the shirt you won’t need until December. No need to keep it in your room taking up valuable space, and you will probably find it a little easier if it’s in the Christmas tote.

I have learned that when items come into the house, I have to immediately process it and get it into the drawers where they belong. Otherwise...I forget I bought them...leading me to thinking 'OH I'm out', but it was just lurking hidden in bags. Great job putting like items with like!

The positive experience aspect of decluttering is so important. Things like this where you can see the floor space and see an obvious difference I always find satisfying. At the moment I'm going through my wardrobe a bit at a time and I've managed to get more space in the shelves I've done which is definitely satisfying. Having a pile of stuff to sell or donate or even just throw out, is great to look at. I just annoyingly have a pile of boxes in the corner that are things I'm going to sell. I'm not even tempted to look in them before I put things up to sell, let alone keep them, which is definitely better than in the past where I've ended up taking things out of boxes!

I also have so many socks! I only wear 7 pairs (1 per day) of them and keep rotating between those 7. When they're broken and I have to throw them away, I chose another pair of my huge sock collection and replace them. This way I don't have to throw away any socks.

You are doing really well. I'm so happy that you seem to be having more and more peace while cleaning instead of anxiety. Keep looking to God for strength and peace.😊 Roman's 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." John 5:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgement, but has passed out of death into life."

I am amazed at the amount of churning and because you go through the stuff so fast, you don't realize, recognize and remember what you had decided to do with some of those items. For example, when you did your first master bedroom clean, the yellow and blue dresses were going to put up for sale. A few videos ago you found them in the playroom and now they were back in your bedroom on the bench at the foot of your bed, and you didn't seem to remember how they got there. Some of the things you have looked at before and don't remember moving it to where you are finding it a second or third time. Not calling you out or blasting you for it just an observation. I am a hoarder as well and do the churning as well. I hate going through all those little piddly Little items on the bottom of the boxes containers drawers. Like you hate to throw anything out, hate it to be in landfill. But at some point, you just have to throw stuff out. I'm finally getting to that point. I do as much recycling as I can but sometimes you just have to throw it out.

@shelleyancel11304 жыл бұрын
Good job! For the socks instead of waiting keep the new ones with tags and get rid of the same number of old ones. Always practice the one in one out rule. I would think about getting rid of the empty tubs. So you don't churn more stuff into them. If you don't already put a box in your closet for sentimental stuff. That way you don't have to visit the basement every time.
@eSusan124 жыл бұрын
You are getting it done! Think about how can save the Sailor Moon videos (or are they availablen on KZbin? Could you save the paper from the box? You are able to let more and more go. Now keep those bins out of your bedroom! You are keeping the sections clear so keep up the good work!

I live with my parents and they would/will criticize me for my attempts to clean up or organize. Admittedly, as a 14 year old with no extensive organizational experience I took a while to clean up and made my and my brother’s shared room look like a mess. But without giving advice or help, they made me lose sight of my purpose in cleaning, and 3 years later I’m still so bad at it. You’re right about the need for positivity.
