This song is the "american" version of "Made in Germany". They're showing the contrasts of a country and the society in general. It's not meant to offending americans, because every country got bright and dark spots in it's history. Hämatom is a band that often is laying the finger in the wound, so are their songs "Offline", "Wir sind Gott" (We are God), "Ahoi" or "Säulen des Wahnsinns" (Pillars of insanity) for example. Another song that's pointing in the same direction is "Was ist hier los?" (What's going on?) by Eisbrecher, but be warned: the music video is set up as a news show and they're showing real footage of disgusting things happening in the world, which can be disturbing for some people.

It was an interesting way to contrast good and bad like a rhythm-pattern (There might be a better word, but I can’t find it. 😑) Hämatom has a powerful way to express their feelings. But in my opinion this song is - in its simplicity - not much more than a perfect way to support stereotypes. Do we really need more stereotypes between nations nowadays?

I hope you don't feel offended now! this is as controversial a song as Deutschland by Rammstein. you just have to endure the dark places in your own history. and if American bands don't do it, someone else will! it's not wrong, is it? Incidentally, Hämatom recorded the same song only about Germany: "Made in Germany"! listen to it when you get a chance.

For a better understandin of this sing, chelx their song "Made in Germany" and you'll see he the band is talking about good and bad things Germany has, same as they did with the song about USA. Describing how many people see the United States, know for good things and bad things, and other things that just became Universal (Mickey Mouse, Coca Cola, Wonderbra, Baywatch...) Its a "cliché"

not exactly subtle; but kinda apt, I guess...just painting a basic picture, a more nuanced appraoch could have helped the message. Places aren't good or bad, they just contain good and bad things.

I do not think this song is critising America per se. It shows more the let's say, schizophrenic nature of the U.S.A.. They juxtapose a lot of completely different "american things" to one another. Donald Trump and JFK for example. Two completely different US Presidents in terms of their personality and their politics. Of course a lot of it is basically just steareotypical and I do think this is done on purpose. They also made a song about Germany in the same way, called "Made in Germany". Different lyrics (in german) but musically the same.

Check their other song Made on Germany, and you'll understand the criticism facing a good stuff and a bad one. Its just showin how people see USA (not America)

It list equaly good and bad things. I guess it's just about the USA as it is.
