Yes, Your absolutely right. Lot of southeast asian countries copy this and make some slight modification to the original recipe.

Hello Chef. I never heard of the term Shanghai Hongshao Rou. Where did it originate? My family especially my mother in law can't eat pork belly but the dish looks nice. Those steamed buns looks very nice. It reminds me of my parents making home made bread back in the day. I will be making Chinese today involving shrimp, chicken, yu choy, baby bok choy, peppers, carrots and onions. I can hardly wait to "wok" again. Until next time Chef.

Shanghai Hongshao Rou, are very popular and originated in Shangahi. That other China provinces copy their tasty irresistible cooking. Like wise thru out southeast asian countries. Look like you have good wok cooking coming. That is wonderful.

Love ly dish again chef Lee. I made it last week; soooo goooddd. Would love to eat it more often but that is not really healthy for your heart and vains I think..;-) I did not have the rock sugar though so I used brown sugar instead; worked aswell.
