Lee Mujin can't be one of them since he was born in 2000 and Candy was released in 1996 😂😂

Yup, that is Kangta, the one in green hoodie and white overalls. He has stayed in SM all these years, and has been part of the Board of Directors for quite a while now. He's mostly a producer now, and he wrote and composed one of the songs in Doyoung's solo album.

NCT Dream themselves were so confused about the lyrics too. It was hilariousl😂😂 Apparently the original lyricist was a middle schooler😂

It really is wild how much production has improved! H.O.T. stands for Highfive Of Teenagers 😂 They're usually cited as the first Korean idol group

"Candy" is one of H.O.T's most iconic songs, and literally every new group, both boy groups and girl groups, learn the song and choreography and they perform it on music programs as one of their rookie performances. I doubt you could find a kpop artist -- or even a Korean of any age -- who doesn't know H.O.T.'s "Candy." Which is why SM remixed it and gave the song to NCT-Dream. H.O.T's "Candy" is about being addicted to a girl like a piece of candy. Even though you want to break up with her and stop seeing her, she keeps luring you back in with her sweetness and beauty. Like your favorite candy, you can't give her up, no matter how hard you try. H.O.T. stands for High-five Of Teenager -- which doesn't make all that much sense -- but their name is pronounced like the letters H - O -T. They were the very first Kpop group and they were what SM created the Kpop system as we know it today for. They are the first Kpop stars to go international and to become popular around the world. They are a super big deal in the industry, and yet they were only active for 3 years as a full group of 5 members from 1996-2000. They disbanded/broke up in 2000 after the members wanted to branch out and do different things with their careers. The sad thing is that back then Kpop companies had no idea how marketable it would be if they allowed their members to do other things within the industry while still promoting as a group. Therefore, if the members wanted to take a break it automatically meant they had to break up. Fun fact: If you ever want to get a fun glimpse into what it was like back in the beginning of the Kpop industry when H.O.T. was active, check out the K-drama "Reply 1997." This is a fictional story based around fan culture and it's all about the H.O.T. and Sechs Kies fandoms. Plus, several of the cast are first and second generation idols from very famous groups -- APink and Infinite -- including the leader of Sechs Kies Eun JiWon, who plays a fictional teenager/college student/adult in 1997, as well as himself. (H.O.T.'s Tony An also makes a cameo appearance in the show as himself.) In the drama you will see how fandoms were way different in the beginning of Kpop. Back when H.O.T. and their rivals Sechs Kies were in their heyday, it was sort of taboo to be a fan of more than one group, and there were actual fan wars between the groups. It's kind of similar to how fans of NSYNC and Backstreet Boys were. "True fans" weren't allowed to be fans of both groups and within a group of friends each girl was assigned their favorite member -- if your friend's favorite member was Justin Timberlake you had to like a different member. It was the same with H.O.T. and Sechs Kies, etc. H.O.T. and Sechs Kies were supposed to dislike each other, and the members of both groups have said that when they did events where both groups were involved back then, they hardly ever talked to each other. However, the members never really hated each other and, since then, several of the members of both groups have become friends and they have even done collaboration projects together. Moon HeeJoon -- the leader, main dancer and lead vocal -- and vocalist Tony An from H.O.T. and Eun JiWon, the leader, main dancer and vocalist of Sechs Kies, did a reality show and project together in 2013 along with members from other first generation Idol groups GOD and NRG. The MV that came out of this project, kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYaldIGnh9CYZ5o, makes reference to classic moments within each of these groups and things that they are most known for, such as dance moves and iconic outfits and makeup looks, etc. The main singer of H.O.T. Kangta (green hoodie) -- who is now a solo artist, vocal coach, producer and actor -- is still under SM Entertainment. He is one of SM's most famous solo artists next to BoA Kangta is even on SM's board of directors and he has decision-making power within the company. He literally made SM what it is today. One of H.O.T's songs that he wrote is "Hope," which has now become an SM theme song that is remixed and sung by all SM artists at the end of every SMTown concert every year. Several of the members from the original first generation kpop groups have solo careers as actors, variety show hosts and cast members on varsity shows, etc. For example, Moon HeeJoon and his family are, or recently were, cast members on the reality TV show Return of Superman. If you look up some of NCT-Dream's comeback activities during their "Candy" remake comeback you can even see Moon HeeJoon's daughter JamJam meeting NCT-Dream and filming a "Candy" dance challenge video with the Dream members, kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqrJZXZ8qNtras0. Also with the resurgence of everything old is new again, many of the first gen. groups have gotten back together in the past few years and are releasing music again after 20 years or more.

Koreans have always been confunded by the lyrics of Candy, and it got a revisit when NCT Dream remade it haha. My favourite theory about the lyrics is that it's from the pov of a boy who has an unrequited crush on the girl! The Korean expression for breaking up also means "farewell", so the thing about breaking up could be referring to giving up on the crush that he's had, and not hanging out with the girl any more to move on. There are some minute aspects of the lyrics that don't fit very well, and the original lyricist hasn't ever confirmed this theory, but it's the one that makes the most goddamn sense!

Wow~~~~ I didn't expect that you guys will react to this song. H.O.T is a legendary group not only in SM, but for K-pop industry also. Most foreigners may know Candy from NCT, but originally is from H.O.T. It's quite a stuff when this song came out and the way they perform this song on the stage in Korea at that time.

Sometimes I think subtitles are a curse for pop songs because it makes us take the lyrics too seriously 😂 This one is hilarious but I kind of love how honest it is from the pov of an immature school boy realising how much he likes the girl 😂

The dream lyrics are a tiny bit different and they explain things better, they are going to break up because they have been immature and unworthy and want to go fix themselves, but then they cant do it when the time comes face to face and decide to stay and try to fix themselves at the same time.

This song after their debuted song Warrior Descendant, the hip hop gangsta song. Just see ho H.O.T could jump from that style to this cute style. They also have some other great songs which mixed it it classical music/instrument with great and meaningful lyrics like All Alone, I yah, Outside the Castle, Its Been Raining Since You Left Me, Happiness, etc. I am big fan of H.O.T. I am really glad and thankful for this reaction. Please react more to H.O.T. Maybe next time you can react to I Yah. The song as dedicated to the children who was died in kindergarten fire accident. Its really great song. Thanks in advance!
