A hyper-rare composer, but it's marked "opus 9." That means there's at least 8 more works that exist that somebody knew about. Given the high quality of this piece, they might be worthwhile to dig up... if there's even anyplace to look. Regardless, I'm confident that any obscure composer would be thrilled to know that his music was enjoyed by over 3700 people (as of my writing this) in the far future. Your service to him and to us by sharing it deserves recognition and praise. Thank you!

Very nice character piece. Extra points for the archaelogy!

Thanks a lot for this gem of another almost forgotten composer. As the saying goes: "A man is not dead as long as his name is still spoken" ;-) And also thanks for your very clear and distinct playing. My favorites are the passages at 1:32 and 2:55 ;-) Just for you (and those who are interested): Here's some info on Rudolphy and his work: The "H" stands for "Henry" or "Henri". Here's an overview of his work known so far sorted by opus numbers (most of them published by Schuberth in Hamburg/Germany): Op. 2. Fleurette. Mazurka graziosa (1859) Op. 3. Moosrosen. Valse mélodique (1858) Op. 5. La Gentilesse. Grande Polka élégante (1858) Op. 9. Sérénade "Salut du matin" for piano (??) Op. 10. Polka impériale (1860) Op. 11. Souvenir de Dresde. Impromptu (1859) Op. 13. Souvenir de Hamburg. Mazurka élég. (1860) Op. 14. (1870) - No. 2. Weber, Freischütz. - No. 5. Bellini, Beatrice di Tenda. - No. 6. Verdi, Il Trovatore. - No. 7. Leichte Fantasie über „Margarethe" v. Gounod f. Pfte. - No. 8. Donizetti, Lucrezia. - No. 9. Donizetti, La Fille du Régiment. Op. 25. Fleur automnale (Herbstblüthe). Romance sentimentale pour Piano (1873) and without op No.: - Fleurette. Mazurka graciosa - Moosrosen. Valse mélodique. - Pensées mélancoliques. (La Plainte. La Séparation. La Résignation.) (1856) Romance sentimentale (1857) Hope that helps ;-)

Truly a beautiful living room piece, but in the noblest sense of the term... Strange indeed that nothing is found on him! Could he have adopted a pseudonym? Maybe maybe the piece was so intimate that it had to remain a secret confession...

Ah! It comes from the 84 pieces book "Le Musèe des Pianists" that was considered a collection of rare music already some one hundred years ago, when published. The poor guy was considered almost unknown even while alive (guess publication concerned authors of the period). I noticed also Émile Prudent is present in the book. I recall you also take him out of oblivion with couple of uploads, didn't tou? If my memory assists ..... However extremely peculiar piece, not trivial, but rather sophisticated and full of atmosphere

Thank you, Pietro! I would have never been able to find the score for this without your information. This book is available on IMSLP. There is no table of contents, so for anyone interested, this piece is on pp. 214-217 of the PDF document.

@@susanhsu1430 Although the PDF doesn't have a table of contents, there is a list of composers/pieces on the IMSLP page itself (but no page numbers).
