The waltz that you will try to perfect your whole life... I've been playing it for roughly 20 years, still not satisfied ! Changing tempo all the time when I hear a good rendition like this one here... There is like 1000 way to play this waltz, try to raise the tempo and play without pedal "à la Cziffra", it changes everything. I have a feeling this one will still accompany me for the years to come !
@AnjaliYogaWellnessInc5 жыл бұрын
Chopin was very strict about tempo. This piece, and all pieces by Chopin, should not have wild rubato. He was very strict on time.

Barnacle Boy yea I have seen this too. Often when playing his nocturnes it is encouraged in the writing. Whatever makes the music beautiful is what you do, and each person has their own idea.

There’s a rumor this piece was written as an unintentionally cold breakup letter to a girlfriend just before Chopin left Poland (that’s what it said in my piano book, anyway). I’ve only been playing it for 5 or 6 years, but I feel the same as you that it will hopefully accompany me for the rest of my time here. It’s such a joy to play and feel, to express whatever emotions bubble up

It may be viewed by many as one of Chopin's easier pieces but to get it sounding as wonderful as you have demands years of hard graft along with a profound sense and understanding of music. I don't think there are many out there who can make this piece sound as beautiful as you. It is a pure pleasure to listen to you.
