hi, there is a missing line in stanza 91. He didn't explain 3rd line of it. Btw it helps me a lot because i have been trying to translate whole poetic edda into turkish. Thank you Jackson Crawford.

@@hjjj3821 right, i'm using henry adams bellows and carolyn larington translatins, old norse dictionary either. Btw i've translated hymiskvida without jackson crawford comment. It was difficult but i made it anyway. It would be great if he made all poems.

Hello good sir. I am thankful for your channel I just found it. I was looking for serious information on Odin. You got my sub! When you speak the old way it puts me into meditation or something. You should do your books in audio if you don't already. One way should be in English another in the old language. I would buy ☺. I usually don't comment. Thank you sir

Dr. Crawford does have his first two books (The Poetic Edda and The Saga of the Volsungs + Saga of Ragnar Lothbrok) on audiobook already in English (This is the link to the audio publisher's site, but they're on Audible and pretty much everywhere you can buy audiobooks: www.downpour.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=Jackson+Crawford ) Nothing's been announced yet as far as "The Wanderer's Hávamál" goes, but if it does happen I'm sure Dr. Crawford will announce it here on the channel. :D

Dr. Crawford, is your Havamal book still going to be released this month? I've been waiting for your book alone, as opposed to buying another translation. Is there a date set yet? Thank you. 🙏🏼

The Amazon preorder page still has the release date as November 20th, so that should be the case: www.amazon.com/gp/product/1624668356

What I would like to know is that will it bring more or different insights apart that can be found already in his translation of the Poetic Edda?
@nkhtn663
@nkhtn663 5 жыл бұрын
@@runequester6834 Yes, it's got additional material, the Old Norse text, and also Dr. Crawford's commentary on the Hávamál, which isn't in his translation of the Poetic Edda. Dr. Crawford actually has a whole video on that subject at this link, if that might be of use: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJLTlKCKrd5lhpY

Maybe hugr could be translated as desire here? Only desire knows what's near the heart? Aka if you listen closely to your desires you may find out what you really want in your heart. Which then leads you to a satisfying goal.

So, the old Norse anticipated Emily Dickinson, and the heart wants what the heart wants. That was unexpected. Edit: And, 'grey' might refer to a dog that's grisly or gruesome irrespective of gender.
