Sub Zero's origin Bi-Han the older brother of Sub Zero was killed by Scorpion because Scorpion though he killed his family and clan but it was actually Quan Chi in disguise. Kiua Liang took over his brother's place and became Sub Zero. He then wanted to make peace with Scorpion but Scorpion has a grudge between the Lin Kuei but after Sub Zero shows Scorpion prove that it was Quan Chi who killed his family Scorpion felt sorry for killing his brother and made peace.

According to the new timeline starting from Mortal Kombat 9, the subzero that knows Batman in mortal kombat vs DC is Bi-Han, but he dies in mortal kombat 9 by scorpion. His brother, Kuai Liang is the new Subzero who is in the end of 9, which turns into Cyber Subzero, then he is in X as normal, and he's the one you're playing as in Injustice 2.

Actually he isnt seeking for revenge, but rather makes amends with scorpion after unveiling quan chi's actions in murdering scorpion's family while posing as Sub-Zero to trick him into joining him. This is what triggers scorpion into killing quan chi in mkx, dooming the fallen of mk9 to remain hellspawn forever (until they pull some ridiculous cop-out and bring them back later)

i dont know if you knew this already but if you go to the "Gotham City (Empire Theater)" map, in front it will say "The Final Wish 2" and "Hidden Crimes". When you kick your opponent against it a few times on the the left side it will say "FIN" and "ISH" then on the right side it will say "HI" and "M" put it together and it spells out "Finish him" i just thought it would be cool to see that with subzero
