I drilled on a pumice float. Very tricky. We used steel surface casing and a swing bit. The bit opens up 3 inches bigger than the casing when it starts to turn and collapses when you reverse. We also drive the casing just behind the swing bit. You need a stuffing box for the casing or get ready for a really dirty ride home or a change of clothes. The proper name for the process is called, ODEX reverse circulation. It's a stupid name and it makes no sense.

That was very steep slope. I could see a few company's passing on a job like this. That drill truck is a lot of weight to have on the edge of fresh packed fill like that.

My favorite song comes to mind in these kinds of situations; (in the tune of Camptown Races) We're gonna do some sketchy shit, doo da, doo da.... Another awesome video. This reminded me of a job we did recently where we had to drill into the side of a hill(horizontal drilling). The hill was pretty steep, and we had to put lots of cribbing under the back feet to get the bore machine level enough to make the bit level. Fortunately, the ground was soft enough that when we steered the bit, it didn't want to push the machine back. This kind of stuff can be very dangerous, and I'm glad nothing happened to you, your dad, or your rig.

😂😂😂NOPE!!! Several hundred thousand dollar machine setting on fresh fill??? Now if that would have been me?? I would’ve told him bring a dozer in cut me a driveway 4 feet down to back him that would only left me with a foot and a half a fill, but I’ve been on solid solid footing 😂😂😂 plus I would’ve been nervous enough that I probably would’ve anchored the drill rig to another truck with a chain for safety. Glad it was you because I would’ve had problems not breathing and holding my breath.😂😂😂 with the mini ?? Only one way to dig blade facing the lake so you can put the blade all the way down and mostly level the machine and basically dig sideways then have to break down move over and start all over serious pain in the butt, but the only other option is to take the mini and dig a level spot and then dig a trench and that’s a lot of backfill afterwards.. but no way I would of chanced myy y drill rig on that much fresh fill but seriously congratulations on a job well done👍

That was a very sketchy pad to put your rig on. In my opinion it was too close to trouble for a well. Had they excavated down to virgin soil and put the fill in with proper compaction then it wouldn’t have been any trouble. Pre planned jobs are not that difficult! Was that on Kerr lake? Good job! Best Regards Al in Ebony.

Make sure not to install your water appliances too close to the electrical panel, there's code regulations on how close water lines can be to a main disconnect, water on an un-fused main line is not good.
@ZackFletcher1
@ZackFletcher1 2 күн бұрын
And how close would that be?
@ShayneHartford
@ShayneHartford 2 күн бұрын
@@ZackFletcher1 It depends on the local area's electrical code, from a quick search it seems about 6 feet above the panel must not have water lines, and possibly about 2ft from the panel horizontally?
