What Zane did was a total accident. He didn't know Emma was there and tried to get Ash away so he wouldn't find out the only way he knew how. He bought time by insulting Emma because he knew Ash would defend her. I just wish Emma could see that, because if Zane did anything else it would be suspicious. Another thing tho, Cleo usually is on Emma's side, she isn't in the middle, she picks a side ! Rikki is usually on her own with arguments and I think it's a little unfair that they don't really acknowledge that.

@@3BsART Well you can't really call her not finding a balance between both worlds small. That's huge and life changing, something that's hard to adapt to. Sure Lewis was doing what he does best and that's care for her and her friends and protect her. However, when you're in a position as she was in, having someone do everything for you or cling to you so much, it's kind of annoying and stressful, especially since she had to master her powers on her own and learn on her own. So that's why she did the right thing and broke up with him. But I'm glad they got back together because Clewis was meant to be.

I'm 22 and I'm not going to judge myself for watching this at any age. I see this show as an art. Jonathan Shiff and the crew have been creating this masterpiece with such love and passion for that. And I'm really thankful for their sense of beauty and aesthetic. It needs a huge talent and imagination to film like that. Those tails, moon pool, Mako, underwater scenes, music, the mermaids theory and actually every screen view are aesthetically gorgeous.

@KenyaGirly Zane lied to Ash when he said Emma was clumsy, but that was his way of trying to protect Emma. Yes, his methods were rude, but he WAS trying to help, he just isn't very adept at it. Zane did NOT lie to Rikki since he didn't say anything either way about how Emma got wet. He just said that there was an accident and she got wet. I commented in the episode where everyone learns where Rikki lives, there is a spot where Rikki and Zane are fighting, and Rikki jumps into the water to get out of the fight. Zane instinctively looks around to see if anyone saw her jump in. He takes protecting their secret very seriously. He just still has a lot to learn about interacting with people. But he is doing a lot better than he used to. I am actually ticked off at what they do to Zane in season three. Most of the character development disappears and he just turns into something of a trope: The writers either use him to cause problems or he is a go-to for solving problems, but he doesn't do a whole lot as an actual character.

The fight between Emma and Rikki was kind of unneccessary, really. When Emma accidentally got juice on her in the JuiceNet Café, Zane really did try to stall Ash so that Emma would have enough time to lock herself away before her mermaid tail appeared. Emma thought that Zane was just being mean to Ash for no reason, but he really was trying to protect Emma, just like he told Rikki.

@KenyaGirly Yes, I support Emma, too, because I understand why it seemed to her that Zane was only being a jerk. Plus, he obviously could have found a much better way of distracting Ash than starting a fight. I’m just saying that Zane did spill on Emma accidentally and he really was trying to help protect Emma’s secret from Ash. Even though he obviously went about it badly. But there was bad communication all around that led to the fight between Rikki and Emma being much worse than it had to be. Zane should have found a better way to intervene with Ash and after the fact he should have made an effort to be nicer and to tell Emma that he had actually been trying to help her. And Rikki should have listened to Emma’s perspective instead of only listening to Zane. I can see all of their sides here even though I think all of them made mistakes.
