For those of you with sleep paralysis. Here's a tip you should NEVER forget. When you are in that helpless phase where you can't move, can't wake up, start to panic and get demonic or ghost like visions: Wiggle your TOES. Your brain releases chemicals to paralyze your body (to not mimic your body's dreaming movement) when you wake up, your brain stops these chemicals. sleep paralysis is your consciousness waking up before your brain has time to wake the rest of your body up. of course your consciousness doesn't know this so you start coming up with a reason why and this is usually of course, ghosts, demons, UFO abductions etc. Thing is, you can still move your toes because paralyzing your toes is not necessary, you wont be able to move or fall while asleep by being able to move your toes, so by moving your toes rapidly you will wake up within seconds. Now that you know how to get out of it whenever, you wont be scared to be stuck in that stage and if you continue to be awake through it you can use that opportunity to easily start lucid dreaming. Also, when Ethan wakes up after lucid dreaming and IMMEDIATELY feels the urge to fall back asleep is normal. It happens all the time with sleep paralysis. And the best/worst thing is that if you don't resist the urge to wake up, you will fall back into sleep paralysis and i take that opportunity to lucid dream. If you are wondering how to transition it is really easy. While in sleep paralysis, think happy thoughts and relax, the urge to hear demonic noises is really overwhelming but if you stay still, relax, after 30-1 minute you will start to feel your body shake. When this happens stay focused on not falling asleep and imagine being somewhere. Next thing you know, you will be there and you can do anything. ....I suffer from this a lot.

Wow thanks for the essay :p I experienced it a couple months back but it didn't last long. When I realized I couldn't move and that I couldn't call for help from my mother whom I could hear in the other room I started to panic, and when I realized I couldn't even control my own breathing, I REALLY started to panic. So I just tried to fling my whole body out of my bed with all my force, and it resulted in a slight flinch and an unintended grunt, but none the less, I could control my body again. That's my story... hope you liked it. I don't remember why I'm writing this but I'm sure I have a great explanation somewhere... deep, deeep inside my brain. Kay, Im unna go now have fun :)

I'm not sure why the comments are so toxic about their political discussion. Personally I've watch countless hours of political "professionals" actually yelling at each other. This was one of the most level headed discussions on political views. They actually listened to each other and thought about it and this is coming from a prank guy and a dude who made vape nation. WTF. Regardless of the fact that there was a bit of talking over each other they all treated each other with respect.

Before that he was lying his ass off and trying to cover up for it. Ethan HUMBLED the fuck outta Joey and that's good because he needed it. I am conservative and finally watched this podcast, after it’s been out for almost three years. It never ceases to amaze me how open and thoughtful both Ethan and Hila are. To talk to anyone of any background, religion, political view, etc. It’s very encouraging, especially now in a very bleak world pandemic. Sahih Muslim 4366-Muhammad said: “I will expel the Jews and Christians from the Arabian Peninsula and will not leave any but Muslim.” Al-Bukhari, Al-Adab al-Mufrad 1103-Muhammad said: “Do not give the People of the Book the greeting first. Force them to the narrowest part of the road.” Sahih al-Bukhari 6924-Muhammad said: “I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: La ilaha illallah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah), and whoever said La ilaha illahllah, Allah will save his property and his life from me.” Sahih Muslim 30-Muhammad said: “I have been commanded to fight against people so long as they do not declare that there is no god but Allah.” Qur'an 4:34 -Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret what Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High Exalted, Great. Sahih Muslim 142-[Muhammad said]: O womenfolk, you should give charity and ask much forgiveness for I saw you in bulk amongst the dwellers of Hell. A wise lady among them said: Why is it, Messenger of Allah, that our folk is in bulk in Hell? Upon this the Holy Prophet observed: You curse too much and are ungrateful to your spouses. I have seen none lacking in common sense and failing in religion but (at the same time) robbing the wisdom of the wise, besides you. Upon this the woman remarked: What is wrong with our common sense and with religion? He (the Holy Prophet) observed: Your lack of common sense (can be well judged from the fact) that the evidence of two women is equal to one man, that is a proof of the lack of common sense. Qur’an 3:31-32-Say [O Muhammad]: If you love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive you your faults, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. Say: Obey Allah and the Apostle; but if they turn back, then surely Allah does not love the unbelievers. Qur’an 30:43-45-Then turn thy face straight to the right religion before there come from Allah the day which cannot be averted; on that day they shall become separated. Whoever disbelieves, he shall be responsible for his disbelief, and whoever does good, they prepare (good) for their own souls, that He may reward those who believe and do good out of His grace; surely He does not love the unbelievers. Also Google how many women are stoned to death or persecuted in some way for being raped in Muslim Countries and then how often that happens in any other country. It happens all the time. You're going to read all this and not change your stance what so ever. You're a douche man. No offence but you're too much of a keyboard warrior.

Ethan, I have the same exact sleep paralysis symptoms. Sometimes I'll be going to sleep and I'll feel like I'm awake in my room but I cant move. I started having these experiences in my teens when I was on medication for OCD which is related to tourette's. As I got older I tried astral projection meditations which is is attempting to have an out of body experience by inducing sleep paralysis and then attempting to get the consciousness to leave the body. So now when I have sleep paralysis I will try to move or get up to either wake up or separate the consciousness from the body. Most of the time it will feel like I'm lying in my room struggling to move for hours. Sometimes I will get the sensation that I am floating out of my body but still not able to control where I am going. When I wake up it seems like the whole sensation of being in my room, or beeing awake was a dream projection. The only thing that is accurate to reality is the time that passed. If it feels like I have been struggling to move for an hour, about an hour has elapsed.

ok well I can't argue on that don't know the situation well enough but I'm German and I know the situation over here is not even half as bad as it is projected by fox news and such. and saying that the right's position on refugees is to put policies in place that fixes the problem at the root so refugees do not even have to flee their country and the left's position is 'just let them all in' is a very biased statement. I understand conservative's views about migration and so on but I just don't agree with it. But I can disagree with someone and still not call them names or see them as stupid. just a difference in opinion

Really good podcast. I think it's important and I respect you for not avoiding the difficult subjects and lines of conversation where you clearly disagree but you still make the effort to listen to and explore why Joey holds these beliefs. I understand that people in the comments might find it difficult to listen to and watch. Of course these 4 people are not theology experts but just giving their humble opinion on religion and what's happening in the world. Ethan is always honest about their lack of knowledge and lack of a Muslim guest to hold up that part of the conversation, I didn't see a problem. It's sad to me that a lot of Joey's viewpoints seem to be based on fear but it certainly explains the kind of right wing thought process we're seeing at the moment... people are scared man. Good podcast. Appreciate ya.

@JockeMr7 жыл бұрын
I'm a Swedish and also live in Stockholm, disagree to his point. The "problems" are very low scale, the people getting affected is almost none in comparison, in the article "U.S. Bombed Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia in 2016" published by NBC claims that the US ALONE drops 72 bombs a day againts the countries mentioned in the title. I do not think I need to clearify that these 72 bombs a day is targeted on humans, and kills. Compare that again to people burning cars please.
