Curious about the die-off of birds worldwide. Is the virus affecting more/fewer wild birds as time goes on? What about farmed chickens? Similarly, are any mammals affected worldwide, or have they only been infected in the US? (cats, cattle, etc) Do cattle die from the virus? It seems that the "numbers" might make a difference when projecting the likelihood of human infections. (if more animals/birds are affected the 'more likely' humans will get sick as well) Finally, will the black out of information, as a policy of the new administration, make it harder for you to cover these important topics?

So many good questions....

The reservoir of infection is very deep and broad now, both in birds and mammals, so it's likely that it will develop human to human transmission capabilities at some point soon, but exactly when is the question. I just don't want to see society upside down...

A couple years before covid existed I had caught a flu from person to person contact. No idea what variant but it was mostly runny/stuffy nose, body aches, cough and fatigue as the worst of it. However, in its peak I nearly projectile vomited twice, but nothing actually came up thankfully. No nausea to forewarn me of it either. Annoyingly, right as I was in the recovery stage I also caught strep throat so my sick feeling was getting better then stagnated. Left me unwell for 3 weeks, which might be the longest I've ever been consistently sick for.

thanks, I wanted to know if it was cause for worry, but it seems my cats are fine if they’re inside cats 👍

Did they look for bird flu in cows in 1997?
@WhiteboardMedicine9 күн бұрын
We are unsure on this. There at least we’re not enough cases to prompt any recognition
