First engine start in the 2020 season!
Some days ago this beauty finally has been towed out from the hangar and the almost-one-year dust was removed! HA-LIX got its refurbished wheel brakes and the brake tests were successful, so its now ready for operation!
This wonderful old lady was built in 1949, arrived to Hungary on the 10th of September, 1949. She started her career as a transport aircraft in the Hungarian People's Army, she was used for this purpose until 1957. From 1958 to 1964 MALÉV used her for passenger flights and in 1964 she was moved back to the Army. She was withdrawn from use in 1974, then she was preserved in the Kilián Musem in Szolnok.
After a 4 years overhaul she flew again in 21 september, 2001, since then she is operated by Goldtimer Foundation, based in Budaörs Airfield (LHBS). Nowadays HA-LIX is the only airworthy Li-2 on the Earth.
She got back the original MALÉV color scheme in 2008, after almost 11 years it was necessary to renew the paintwork on the bird. The job was done in 2019 by the Aeroplex of Central Europe (ACE) in their hangar in Liszt Ferenc International Airport.

The Lisunov Li-2, originally designated PS-84, was a license-built Soviet-version of the Douglas DC-3. It was produced by Factory No. 84 in Moscow-Khimki. After the production license was awarded, cca. 1293 engineering change order was made (part design, dimensions, materials etc.) to fit the Soviet standards. Most of the PS-84 aeroplanes were used by the Aeroflot before WW II, but they were taken into military use just after the germans attacked Soviet Union. Soon the type was redesignated to Lisunov Li-2. A total of 4937 aicraft were made during the mass production.

Első motorindítás 2020-ban!
Néhány nappal ezelőtt végre kihúzták a hangárból ezt a gyönyörűséget és a majd' egyéves port eltávolították a gépről! Megkapta a felújított kerékfékeket és mivel a tesztek sikeresek voltak, készen áll az üzemre!
Ez a csodálatos öreg hölgy 1949-ben készült, ugyanazon év szeptemberének 10. napján érkezett Magyarországra. A Magyar Néphadseregnél kezdett repülni teherszállító feladatkörben, egészen 1957-ig. 1958-tól 1964-ig a MALÉV flottájában repült mint utasszállító repülőgép. 1964-ben visszakerült a MN kötelékébe, 1974-es kivonása után a szolnoki Kilián Múzeum gyűjteményét gazdagította.
Egy közel 4 éves nagyjavítás után 2001 szeptember 21.-én repült újra, azóta a Goldtimer Foundation üzemeltetésében található a Budaörsi Repülőtéren. Manapság ez az egyetlen légialkalmas Li-2 a Földön.
Eredeti Malév-színeit 2008-ban kapta vissza, közel 11 év után szükséges volt megújítani a repülőgép festését, amit 2019-ben az Aeroplex of Central Europe egyik hangárjában végeztek a Liszt Ferenc Nemzetközi Repülőtéren.

A Lisunov Li-2 (kezdeti típusjelzése PS-84) az amerikai Douglas DC-3 repülőgép licence alapján után készült a Szovjetunióban. Gyártása a 84-es számú gyártóegységben történt Moszkva-Khimkiben. A gyártási jog megszerzése után körülbelül 1293 módosítást hajtottak végre az eredeti terveken (alkatrész-kialakítás, méretek, felhasznált anyagok, stb.) ahhoz, hogy a repülőgép passzoljon a szovjet igényekhez illetve gyártósorokhoz. A PS-84 a háború előtt polgári célokra volt használatos, de miután Németország megtámadta a Szovjetuniót a legyártott gépeket katonai használatra helyezték át, valamint ekkor kapta a manapság is ismert típusjelzését, a Liszunov Li-2-t is. Összesen 4937 darab készült a sorozatgyártás során.

I had seen this in person i was flying with gliders on the other end of the runway. After the startup there was an enormous smoke cloud

at 5:52 there is a strange move of the rear wheels, is it intentional and part of the testing?

Probably it's just normal operation. The tailwheel is moving around freely in 360 degrees, which allows very small turn radiius on th ground with differential braking. Due to the small size, the tailwheel is offloaded from the weight as soon as possible during the takeoff rool, and also during taxiing. In the moment your refer to, the taxiing was fast enough to momentarily lift the tailwheel from the uneven ground, and it started to swivel around before touching the ground again.

@@NATANOJ1 well, you are also right to some extent, because most of the tailwheels can be locked into a narrower degree. This is however used on landing and takeoff runs, but not during taxiing.

A felszállás alatt nincs nyitva a fékszárny. Li-2-nél csak leszállásnál van használatban.
