you say decrease in every other round, but then say decrease 3 times in every other 2nd round then 5 times.... how do I put 3 decreases in a round in comparison to the 4 decreases you showed
@haalu8 жыл бұрын
Hi Sarah! What I mean is this: 3 times in every second round means that I will decrease in every second round, but I will repeat that 3 times. So I will actually knit 6 rounds where I will decrease in every second round. The decreases are alaways done as I showed you, just the number of normal round in between are differernt. Did that help? :)
@sarahnoelle148 жыл бұрын
Oh okay, so then when you say 5 times in every round you mean no longer alternate with knit rounds?

Yes, exactly! :)

Hi there, thanks so much for these helpful videos! I’m just a bit confused about how to measure the length of the foot section. I placed a marker before I started the heel decrease (just after finishing the heel flap). But because in the decrease the first stitch doesn’t get knit until the very end of the heel decrease, my marker isn’t at the back of the heel but instead is where the heel finishes and I started picking up stitches again for the foot section. Should I measure from the back of the heel, or from where the end of the heel meets the foot section? Thank you in advance!
@haalu3 жыл бұрын
It's been a while since I knitted these, but I think I measured from where the heel finishes. However, I find that the most reliable way to measure the foot is by measuring the entire foot (including the heel but without the toes). Then I look at the pattern and calculate how many rounds I need to knit for the toes. Here we knit 11-13 rounds for the toes, depending on the size. I then look at my gauge to see how long those 11-13 rounds would be and subtract that from the total foot length that I am going for. That way I always get the right foot lenght even if my gauge is off. Hope thats helps :)

Thank you❤Mam I have cable needles how can I distribute the stitches
@haalu Жыл бұрын
I usually distribute them equally, so I make the magic loop after half of the stitches. You can use stitch markers to mark the quarters, that way you can see which part of the stitches would be the first, second, third or fourth DPN.

If I haven’t set a marker for foot length where do I actually measure from to get the 7 cm ? Thank you
@haalu5 жыл бұрын
Are you knitting the smallest size? If yes, I have made it so that the whole foot is 10 cm. According to the pattern the toes are about 3 cm long, so I have measured the entire foot up until I started the toes to get the 7 cm.

I have a question: When you finished picking up stitches along the heel, and finished the knitting around and begin to decrease, how many stitches are on your first and last needle for the 1/3 months size before you begin the decrease. I keep trying to. count your stitches, but I can't seem to catch it that way.
@haalu2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kristal! There should be 24 stitches on the first and last needle (so 12 per needle). There are 26 stitches on the other two needles, so 50 stitches in total (before the decreases). You can find the pattern here: www.garnstudio.com/pattern.php?id=3899&cid=17

Hi! I didnt understand the gap between the 3. and 4th video. At the end of the 3rd video i knitted until 40 stitches left then it became 18 stitches on the bottom. but when i came to 4th video you started with 14 stitches at the bottom. Shall ı go on purling on every second turn until it is 14 stitches at the bottom? Thanks for the answer:-)

I find that the foot becomes very long for a newborn if I make it 7 cm from the marking to where I start decreasing, the decreasing adds some to the length as well. Is it just me? Have I maybe misunderstood the instructions? Should the foot be 7cm in total maybe?
@haalu6 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late response! The finished sock should be 10 cm long according to the instructions, so 7 cm from the marker to the beginning of the toes. I usually make it a little shorter though, because I too feel like that is a little long for a small baby?
@ritatannehill74873 жыл бұрын
i missed where to put the marker - was it in the last video? i have rewatched and just didnt see it ...
@haalu3 жыл бұрын
It was after the heel flap (before the decreases). You can find in the fourth line of the written pattern: www.garnstudio.com/pattern.php?id=3899&cid=17

I have an odd number of stitches. I have 54 stitches for a 6-12 month old and that gives me 13.5 stitches per needles. So I would do 13, 13, 14, 14 would that still work?
@alamadre-rk9sk7 жыл бұрын
I didn’t decrease like I should half in previous video 😩😩

Ah yes I see, after that you should have 40 stitches in total.

Hi! What do you do with the ends of the yarn when you are done making the sock? I mean the one in the top and the one at the toes. Do you just cut them off or what? :-)

I think I missed where I was supposed to put a marker...! IS it a big problem?
@haalu4 жыл бұрын
I have linked the written instructions in the info box. You can try to backtrack from there! ☺️ I think it's basically after the "round" part of the heel. But I usually calculate the length of the toes by counting how many rounds will be added for the toes (and look at how many cm that would be based on the gauge that I have for the foot) and then subtract that length from the total foot length that I am going for. That is the safest option for me.

Another question: shall i put the marker when it became 40 stitches on the needle ? Or when i just finished the heel, after picking up the extra stitches? I wacthed the video many times but couldnt catch that point :-(( when do i put the marker and start measuring the 7 cm foot ?? Thanks for the answer Haluu!
@haalu7 жыл бұрын
You set the marker after you have knitted the heel flap but before your start decreasing. I talk about that in the second video at about 3:10 or so. Did you find the pattern in the info box? I find it helpful to look at the pattern while following videos because you can find parts like that easier than when you need to rewind everything :)
@perlanera96725 жыл бұрын
Sorry but I still don't see the marker and it makes at least a cm difference on length depending on where you put it.

I followed the drops pattern that I have linked in the info box so if you want to knit them in another size you can look the numbers of stitches etc up on their site. (I don't know them by heart, sorry!)

O sorry i have understood now ;-)). I just telled wrong because i am trying to knit it with round needles. When it is 26 on one side and 14 on the other needle than it is ok ;-) 40 sticthes on the needle!

Yes I was just looking it up and you are right, you should have 26 stitches for the top of the foot and 14 stitches for the bottom :)
