I've always loved how a sickle bar lays the grass down so nice. And if the cut grass is thick enough, it can create a mat that keeps the weeds and grass from growing too. I spent a lot of summers mowing the county road right-of-way with a sicklebar and then we "upgraded" (downgraded really) to rotary mowers and then to flail mowers. Nothing works like a sickle bar though!

Just picked up the sears version of this, i'll try to put it on one of my Bolens or Simplicity but if not, i'll just buy me a Sears SS or ST that it was made for originally. i grew up in a city with a 10'x15' yard, i left for the army and college, but came home and bought a house near where i hunted as a kid. Now im a 40 year old kid playing with garden tractor snowblowers, 3 point hitch implements, and stay outside every day. I love it.

Haban made some really good stuff. My Cub Cadet 1872 has a Haban 60" deck that leaves an amazing cut and gets the job done really fast.

My dad had a large collection of vintage equipment. Mostly farming stuff like plows, drags, rakes, a few antique tractors and crawler/dozer's. When I was a teen, I used to roll my eyes when he came home with more 'junk.' Now I find pleasure in tinkering with all of his 'treasures.' Although I'd love to have one of these small sickle bar mowers to fit on my recently acquired 1962 Cub Cadet 124, I'm happy tinkering on his 3 McCormick Deering horse drawn 7 footers, a couple of smaller 2 footers?, and a IH model 100 balanced head sickle bar trailer. Last summer, a family friend gave me a Oliver three point hitch 7' sickle mower after I bought a decent New Holland 68 hayliner square baler from him. And now I have a small collection of lawn tractors and related equipment, haha!

My mother bought one of these for my father's IH Cub tractor back in the 70's I think it was. Haban I believe was bought by Agri-Fab.

does the blade stop immediately when you fall on it on a slope or accident ?

em forty Those old cub cadets existed before safety was a concern. It’s also a contributing factor that people have gotten more dumb. If you use it correctly and use common sense you’ll be fine.

I'm going thru all the Haban sickle bar mower videos I can find, but no one seems to have posted one to show an underbody view of how they are attached. That would really be nice, given I just bought one yesterday for a 1614 Economy Power King tractor , and it's missing the axle mount and does not have the complete drawbar hanger.

After I finish building my lake, I'll be forced to buy a Sickle Bar for my garden Tractor.

Will that cut through cat tails?
@CubCadetManVideos11 жыл бұрын
We don't have any cattails to try it on, but I have mowed some fairly good size ragweds, and it goes right through them. I suspect it would do the same with cattails. The only problem would be the 4 foot reach. I think most cattails are further out than that.

Where are all the birds going to put their nests? The pond perimeter is great for nesting of waterfowl.

Not enough rpm's, cut quality is bad. If you don't put it in the pond every once in a while, you are not mowing close enough.
