Installing Sears suburban sickle bar knife and quick test cutting.

My father bought new a1965 Sears Suburban 12 hp with a 42" finish mower, a snow plow, and the following spring he bought the sickle mower. Right now I have it and have not used the sickle mower in years. The sickle bar needs to be taken apart, sand blasted, repainted, and put back together. It would be a nice conversation piece to bring to a vintage tractor show. I also have all the Sears manuals on everything. Great video.

My goodness that brings back memories, my dad had the same machine, had the onan twin 16hp belly mower ,turning plow, disc, laying off plow, tiller with its own power unit, good solid machine.

Cool stuff, sears was a huge part of my life as a kid in the seventies, my grandfather trusted sears, i still have his black and decker work mate work bench, I use it all the time, plus lots of other tools he bought there, good stuff and good memories

Didn't know they even had attachments like the sickle mower for the garden tractors until a few years ago.I wonder how many have been scraped out when someone inherited a parents or grandparents' place. 🤔

Sweet machine. I just bought a Sears ss16, with a sickle mower, plows, disc, box blade two days ago. The sickle bar is going to be a challenge to get to use, apparently it is off of an 1960s speedex tractor but it was modified to fit it somehow , where there’s a will there’s a way

I have been looking for a sickle bar mower for my 1974 (sears) roper T16 for a few years now. Where the heck did you find one?

Can you tell where you found the sickle mower knife ? I have every thing else but the knife was missing when I bought the mower.

It looked like you hired Stevie Wonder to mow your grass lol. Doesn't seem real useful for grass maybe edging near a pond where you'd get stuck perhaps.

It’s for tall grass or hay dose not work great where I mowed it was wet and it’s been bush hogged multiple times.

The first suburban I bought 2 years ago was $150 After I agreed to the purchase the man turned and pointed at a plow and said it comes with that.. and that, and that, and that. I got a plow, a disc, a rear blade, a a sickle bar. I still haven't tried the sickle bar and not sure what brand it is but it would be great to clean the fenceline on my hay fields
