The habenaria medusa is an awesome looking orchid...and yes I do agree they do resemble a feather! LOL! I actually do not have an anosmum care video at this time and perhaps will look into doing one when they come into bloom. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Does the flower spike contain any nutrients that the plant could pull back for the benefit of the tubers? Thanks!
@PictureMaria16 жыл бұрын
The flower spike of an orchid is used to hold and maintain the blooms of the orchid. Its purpose is not to provide energy to the orchid but rather to support the blooms in which the energy comes from the plant. If it continues to live it is utilizing energy from the orchid to keep it alive, it is not the energy source. Although I do believe that anything alive holds some form of energy but I don't believe it would be anything substantial or significant to the orchid and again if anything it takes away from the orchid rather than give. I also cut this spike because it appeared to be creating more buds. I definitely did not want any more energy wasted on producing buds.

I have been looking to get Habenarias but have been a little reluctant because of my temperature range... what sort of summer and winter [max and min] temperatures do you experience? I can get up to 36ºc here in summer with 80%+ humidity and as low as 6ºc in winter with barely 30% humidity.

Hey #PhalPal Maria, what’s the function of a tuber👂🏼
@PictureMaria16 жыл бұрын
The tuber acts like a tulip bulb...during the winter the leaves dye off and all you have is the bulb. Then when the spring time comes the growth will begin again...and that is the function of the tuber.

I opened a page on G+ for orchid Care vids. When you do info type ones i will share it there if you like. May or may not become popular there. Time will tell. When viewers click on a vid it goes directly to the yt channel of the person making the vid. I just wanted an info source for different orchids and related care. With many orchid video creators so people have many sources of info in one place. On G+ at, Orchid Care Videos. Anyone that makes orchid vid is free to post. Any other type of video will be immediately deleted not shared. For any interlopers. Together, we can destroy the Emporer and Rule the Galaxy as Individual Orchid Growers!
