The Fantasy WWII VR Shooter (why?) - The Light Brigade

The Light Brigade is a VR roguelike (shocker) and even though it is a fantasy game it is a WWII shooter. The gameplay is literally prayers and gewehrs. It's beautiful in a weird way, in VR the scale of the maps is huge and the gunplay is fantastic. I just had no idea WWII fantasy was an aesthetic you could do... Sorely missing the fact that the cards that function as this games perks all look beautiful, and actually have a parralax effect that gives them this depth when you look a one closely. Then again, our precious smoothbrain was eyeballing the gewers still, so it was no big that it went over his head.

7:18 finally I get to be pedantic using my sound designer knowledge, the main effect on that sound is a Delay rather than a Reverb. Delay is what causes the sound to have that echoing repeat, where the reverb is what makes it stretch out and dissolve at the end.

I know that roguelikes have kind of been done to death, but it is nice to see more of them coming to VR. There are a lot of great experiences in VR, but there really aren't a huge amount that are super replayable. You've got like H3, Compound, Blade and Sorcery. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. It's nice to be getting stuff you can really sink your teeth into.

Oh wow, The Light Brigade I swear there’s a WW2 fantasy graphic novel of the same name Group of GIs sent to a castle to investigate German occult experiments and end up having to help seal off an ancient evil with the help of an angel who bestows them with near invincibility to give them a chance at surviving the fight It’s been years since I read it at my local library and I remember enjoying it a lot. This game may have been directly inspired by that book
