Senecke at three was a big surprise based on all the lists but I think that it will turn out really well, the guy has some magic. Demidov still there at #5, that was another surprise, I thought that the Habs would pick Iginla, Lindstrom or maybe even Senecke, depending on who was still available. Very happy with Demidov at #5. Hage at #21 might turn out to be a bit of a steal, I thought that they moved up to try to get him or Eiserman, so that worked out really well for the Habs. All in all, I'd say it was a pretty good day at the draft for the Habs. The rebuild is starting to look really interesting. Next year will be continuing to deal with some question marks but if all goes well then 25/26 has the potential to be real exciting.

I hope we ''suck'' one more year and get another top 10 in the next draft. No use being close to the playoffs or going in just for 1 round. The reward of finishing in the bottom 10 could be a lot greater.

We might still get a decent first round pick for the original Monahan trade with Calgary. It could range from #11 to #32 depending on where the Flames and Panthers finish in the standings. Of course, if by chance there are no player names ending with the letter "s" on either team and the moon is in Aquarius, the pick gets pushed back to 2026. Or sump'n like that...

Montreal got really lucky. The 4 first teams before the habs were all rebuilding but had all different needs...so the canadiens ended up with Demidov...who will likely be their best player in 3 to 5 years !!!
