I really appreciate you guys making sure to hit the Blackhawks piece before ending the show. When that Jenner and Block report was released the episode you guys did over it was the first episode I listened to beginning to end(was an off on listener and would pick and choose the segments) and I haven’t missed one since. You guys have done a great job making sure to bring up how much the impact that team’s actions of inaction reach and to see you guys continue to emphasize the importance of telling every detail of this story is admirable. on the Nick Robertson trade talk, the Montreal Canadiens might end up being a half decent trade partner. They have a ton of prospects and draft capital, they've been looking to sign a goal scorer to help the offense this coming season but have struck out on Marchessault and Tarasenko. Obviously Nick Robertson isn't that caliber of player but he would definitely get PP2 opportunities, he might get some 2nd line time on a line probably centered by either Kirby Dach or Alex Newhook, and if not, he plays on the 3rd with Dvorak and Anderson or something along those lines idk how they set up that 3rd line. Could potentially work.

For anyone that wants to compare Stolarz to Woll watch the Nov 28th game highlights. Both goalies started and made 30+ saves with a 2-1 win in shootouts and 6 blocked shots from Matthews made by Stolarz. The guys should go over this games highlights during the summer to get a decent comparison of the 2

God damn people make too much of the captaincy, it's a letter on a jersey, it's utterly meaningless nowadays, no matter who has it on the Leafs they're not stepping up their game, the ones who are vocal will be vocal.. Years ago rookies were told to be quiet, only the captain(s) talked, they were the ones who stepped up, etc.. That's not the NHL today.

Losing Bertuzzi and upgrading D didn’t make them “worse”. The Leafs were #2 in goals last year. Their offense is fine. Bertuzzi did not play great for the Leafs. Woop-de-doo they lost his 20 goals. They didn’t want to pay $5 million for a 0.5 points per game player. For perspective that’s less value per point than the Marner contract. Smart move. Robertson can do 20 goals for $1 million. Knies will be better this year. There is a lot to like about the moves Toronto made including an impressive deal for a very solid goaltender. They fixed their main weaknesses for the playoffs. The #2 offensive team has trouble scoring because they face elite goaltending and elite defensive teams in the playoffs every year. Some fans and media are too dense to factor this in to why the team struggles to score in post season. Their division has some of the best playoff teams.

For the forward lineup, I think Knies-Matthews-Domi McMann-Tavares-Nylander Robertson-Holmberg-Marner Jarnkrok-Kampf-Reeves Babcock was wrong about a lot of things, but one thing I always thought he was right about was Matthews, Marner and Nylander all need to drive their own lines.

If the playoffs showed me anything its that you start there. But each line needs the elite player on it and surrounded by big tough forechecking puck movers. They needs guys like Domi (although small) and knies who will crash the net and make chaos to open lanes and give space to the elite goal scorers. Pickup rebounds, drive nets etc while giving smaller guys like marner the breathing room to rip a shot without focusing on getting killed from behind by a Gudas or a Marchand

If they have 1 million in cap space with that lineup of 12F/7D then my guess is they move Holmberg to 4C and try to ship out Kampf to replace him with a more viable third line player at about 3 million. If they can get a centre great but if it's they find the right winger they'll go with it.

Unfortunately I don't feel the leafs are in need of a 3 c, I think they are in need of a 2c. I like Tavares and I want him to stay, but I feel like he needs to either move down to 3c or move over to wing and just take faceoffs. They may not be able to allow Tavares to move to wing they won't be able to find a true 2c until Tavares signs a lower contract and the cap goes up next year.

You know who had a great shot, not particularly great in his defensive end, not a polished skater? Brett Hull. I don''t know if Nick Robertson is the next Brett Hull but it would be advantageous to do what Adam said and also tell him that his talent and potential is untapped and he could be unbelievable if he not just put in more into every aspect of his game but just was patient with the process and trusted that this Leafs team can bring out the best in him.

I’m not informed enough to make a complete statement but based off what the NHL has determined is “enough” for them to be allowed back in I guess it’s okay. I’m pretty sure Adam got his true contract confused with a narrative he’d been pushing for weeks. On the podcast leading up to free agency, he kept saying Stephenson would get 7x8M. Now he signs for 6.25M, but Adam had talked about him making 8M for so long that he forgets his true contract. He definitely got paid well, but adding 2.25M 1:11:00 to his AAV to compare him to Tavares is wild.

I don’t have a problem with the move itself, deciding not to bring back Stamkos. My problem is they could’ve done it without being dicks about it. You can make those exact same moves while still being respectful of everyone in the process. They could’ve even traded him and still have been respectful about it. I get they don’t “need” to, but the lack of respect isn’t what won Vegas a Cup, it was the moves they decided to make (and the LTIR shenanigans that have been going on with Cup champs since Chicago).
