今気付いたんだけど… 交尾後のオスを食べた後、スズメバチに襲われた感じなのか… アリが漁夫の利でオスの体の一部食べようとしてるのが、自然界の厳しさを物語ってるというか… なんか切ない…

That mantis is female and just finished the mating, we can see another corpse(male mantis) is connecting with her butt and she is eating him but it was suspected of being attacked by a hornet on the way. In the end, both mantises died together(male mantises are no longer alone), this view is a very rare sight.

The ants initially wanted the male, then after the hornet started paralyzing the mantis, they wanted some of the mantis, and also wanted the hornet! The hornet was smart, though, and took off with a wing (foreleg) and the head of the mantis! Had the ants been a more numerous type of ant that swarms in larger numbers, the hornet might well have fallen victim too! I've seen ghost ants take down Ichneumon wasps, a few got a hold of one, and these ants were tiny, but they held it down with a few, until their bigger cutter ants came along with a lot of the colony, and then they carved the wasp up like we'd carve a turkey, and took it home to eat!

That was a really badass hornet. Once he bit the mantis between neck and body, mantis was paralyzed. Then the hornet started to break off the big legs. No chance after that. Ants saw that and came to eat leftover pieces...lol.

There is a lot going on here. This is probably a female mantis and is still in the process of mating. The male got his head bit off by her and the lower body is still doing its thing. The hornet is trying to eat the female mantis and the ants are trying to eat whoever dies from this battle. Lol

Seen tons of these battles and have come to this conclusion-- the winner always depends on who is hunting who. If the hornet is hunting the mantis, it has the drop on it and wins. If the mantis is hunting the hornet, it grips it, never lets go and eats it alive.
