Quick tutorial on how to put the Blue Yeti microphone back on its desktop stand.
Note, it's possible to put the mic back on the stand without the glue, but it's difficult, time consuming, and frustrating. If you find yourself switching between the Yeti stand and a traditional mic stand often, using this method will save you a lot of grief.

It is truly incredibly easy, one side after the other. There are only metal washers on the outside of the stand, and one plastic washer with a rubber insert on the inside of the stand. There are 3 metal washers in total on the outside. There order goes as follows; flat, wavy, flat. Place the 3 metal washers on the peg, then place the plastic washer against the mic aligned with the screw hole on the mic, using the stand to hold it in place while you slide the mic into the correct positions. While the mic is in place and you manage to align the plastic washer with the screw hole and the hole on the base, insert the peg through the base, through the plastic washer, and into the mic. The other side can be done easily as the mic should be staying in place with just one side screwed in. Total parts. 6 metal washers - 4 flat - 2 wavy (wavy washers act as a spring, allowing compression) 2 large plastic washers with connected rubber inserts 1 stand 2 pegs 1 yeti mic.

Just struggled through this yesterday. I managed by laying the mic on its side and doing one at a time, but didn't think of this. Smart and simple. Thanks for sharing.

There's an easy way to do this that does not require any glue of any kind. 1. Assuming your mic is completely off the stand at this point, set it aside 2. Take your knob, three metal washers, rubber gasket and o-ring, and get them ready by doing the following A. Thread the three metal rings on to the screw (with the big head that you turn to tighten/loosen the mic itself B. Put that through one of the stands arms that hold the mic C. Place the rubber gasket and o-ring, contour facing IN towards the mic (it's supposed to sit flush against the mic capsule) on the inside of the mic stand arm. D. Slightly screw the knob until it catches the gasket. Make sure the gasket is flat against the arm so you can slide the mic in (important later) E. Repeat for the other side F. Slide your mic down in between the two arms and line up the screws to the holes on the mic G. While holding your mic in place, screw in one side until it catches the threads of the mic H. Repeat on the other side I. Tighten things up until you've hit a happy place. Your mic should not move on its own, but should move freely when you want it to! Enjoy!

The rubber washer fits behind the plastic spacer next to the mic body. These are there to absorb sound sent through the sound like when you tilt the mic. Stops washer wearing . Gluing the spacers is a bad idea guys if your serious about sound quality. the two thick washers go rough side facing each other with the smooth washer in between them

Hi Victoria, on mine I put the three metal washers on the knob first, then the little rubber o-ring, then I screwed the knob in. But I'm guessing the order doesn't matter much. And yes, I glued the plastic spacers on before shooting the video. Later I thought to myself I should share this solution with others in the same predicament. Sorry it didn't help you. If you find another better solution let me know and I'll link to it in my video. :)

Thanks for the video...a huge help! After watching your video seeing how you slid the mic up through instead of down through the top I decided to give it a try without glue (don't have any, and didn't want to leave residue if I went back to a boom). So the trick, which is actually VERY easy is to thread one bolt at a time. This gives you plenty of room to slide the other black washer up the other side...grab a small screwdriver to line up the holes and then insert the other bolt. Wouldn't have figured it out without your video, so thank you Michael!

Correcting my previous comment: Sticking the plastic washer to the Yeti stand, prevents the microphphone from being tilted or turned. Furthermore, only apply superglue if you know how to remove it-- just in case.

@Vazhaspa
@Vazhaspa 6 жыл бұрын
You may also stick the plastic washer on the stand (not to ruin the microphone)--the superglue does indeed take the paint off the stand so you have to be quite careful and precise when applying the glue. However, one may even devise a better way if one could ever discover how the unit was originally assembled!

@@firegangg The thin one is supposed to be curved a little bit to provide a spring tension. Look up "curved spring washer" and you'll see what it should look like. Yours has probably just flattened out over time. You can take a pair of pliers and bend it again.
