Great video! I'll add that those EQ parameters should not be copied by anyone as they are shown in the video. They work for that specific voice in that specific room on that specific microphone. For my voice, in my room, on my mic I do the almost exact inverse of that. If one doesn't know what they're doing, they could do more harm than good, so in some cases it's best to leave the EQ alone, but otherwise trial and error a bit and adjust to taste.

Any mic boom arm is good. As long as the shock absorber that holds the mic is compatible and good enough.
@lander94183 жыл бұрын
Please avoid using the cheapest ones, those springs will bother you sooner than later. Rode PSA-1 is basically endgame for boom arms because of the freedom of movement it gives, also consider using the Gator Frameworks if you have a heavy mic. It’s a good investment
@saucyg63713 жыл бұрын
PSA-1. If possible, go with a wall mounted (or mount the psa-1 on the wall) one or with a mic stand with a boom arm because there’s always going to audio picked up from your desk (assuming you’ll be at your desk). Also never hold your mic for live situations and do your best to never move it during streams.

Thank you for a comprehensive run down of the G Hub. I only discovered it recently despite owning my Bue Yeti for nearly 2 years. My audio has never sounded better. One small tip for windows users- if you have low volume no matter what settings you have on the microphone - check your pc's sound settings. Go into Sound - and make sure you have the output level slider pushed up. Mine was set way too low. This also get reset when ever you do a windows update. Have fun 😎😎

Just remember that noise gates have their limits. Nothing annoys me more than someone trying to filter out fan noise for instance that then however still gets picked up every time they talk and they've adjusted the noise gate to be so aggressive that it clips the beginning and end of their speech speech as well. In such a situation where there is something super noisy in the environment I'd rather just learn to live with it, I feel that sounds a lot better to have the noise be constant than randomly cutting in and out behind speech.

I immediately went and looked at G Hub for my Yeti mic. Couldn't get it to detect (although it did want to import and migrate me away from Logitech Gaming Software, which I use for my G-13, the long-abandoned product from Logitech... to which I said NO). So, after talking with Logitech tech support.... it does support the Yeti mic, but not particularly old ones yet with old firmware. They, apparently, just added the Yeti to the compatibility list lately, and are working to get older versions of it supported as well, but no ETA on that one. So if you have an old Yeti mic it may not work with Blue Voice yet (or ever, I guess, if they don't make the old firmware work with it).

@paulboulter37263 жыл бұрын
You risk the mic picking up the speakers and causing feedback which is the worst result you can have or others at the meeting hearing a delay of their own voices picked up through that mic which will be immensely annoying. Using headphones /ear buds instead of speakers solves those issues which is why in ear monitors are so much more popular now with live sound. It's not impossible, but there are risks.
@willgart13 жыл бұрын
@@paulboulter3726 I'm thinking about a lavalier microphone. but yeah... the sound may not be good. the integrated microphone is able to compensate for the speaker sound correctly, but any sound is fully captured, any keyboard's type etc... just looking for a better setup. so maybe a lavalier microphone. but I'm not able to find test / reviews based on this type of setup, I dont know why because its common these days... my wife's tried some earbuds, but she dislikes that (as well as other headsets), this limits my options.

How do you remove the static sound from my mic that playes low in the background when used? you mentioned artifacting or something, would have liked to have heard how to remove that
@Qimchiy3 жыл бұрын
That depends. If you're plugging straight into the computer that might be the cause. See if it's the same if you plug into a phone or if the humming gets louder when playing intensive games compared to idle. If there's a difference then it's interference from the computer. For this the fix is to get an audio interface, if it's a 3.5mm jack then you can use those 3.5mm to Phantom XLR adapter or you could go with a soundcard with mic input. You may not be able to increase mic gain if it's too quiet with a soundcard. You could increase volume in software but that would also bring up the noise floor. If it's the same static humming across any device. Then it's the mic. If the mic is metal then you could try touching the metal body of the mic to the metal part of a USB cable connected to a phone charger or alternatively have one finger on the metal body mic and the other touching the end of the USB cable. This'll zap the mic and remove any static electricity it'll also zap you but it's only 5V, don't try this with a power supply. If that doesn't work then well the mic itself is the problem. You could use EqualizerAPO with ReaPlugs VST to apply a noise gate. But that'll only make the hum silent if you the mic isn't picking up anything above the threshold you set it to. If you speak there will still be a hum. I've tried 5 different mics. 3 soundcards and one audio interface. Audio interface is the cleanest way to go.
@mmorales5083 жыл бұрын
I had a constant buzzing sound like grounding static on my ATR2500x usb mic and the fix was to simply get the mic cable away from any other electrical cables, like my amp and dac, and it instantly went completely quiet. I have it plugged directly to my laptop but even if I plug it to my powered USB hub as long as is away from other cables it's dead silent. You may have to find out on your specific mic, reported issues and such, to start troubleshooting cause just because that was my fix for my specific mic and situation it doesn't mean it will be for you.
@lander94183 жыл бұрын
Increase your mic gain and decrease the Windows input volume if it’s a USB mic. Avoid having the audio cable (or usb) close to electronics or other cables (such as your PC power supply cable). If it’s an XLR mic play around with both your mic gain and your windows gain to see where the static is coming from Also, if your mic plugs in to a 3.5mm jack (the small one that’s used for wired headphones) consider using an external USB DAC because your internal PC or laptop ports are likely the cause.
@czarkowskipawelyt3 жыл бұрын
Try turning on AC. /s
@paulboulter37263 жыл бұрын
As Lander mentioned, your gain staging(volumes) is probably off. Windows, an audio interface, an even the mic itself can have volume controls that shouldn't be maxed out but balanced. If you still have problems, it's likely a ground loop.
